This watch is sold with its original Hanhart Box & Paperwork. The watch comes paired on its original  24mm sand coloured strap with a black DLC folding clasp. The watch is from August 2021 and is sold in unworn condition, as you can see from the pictures. The watch comes with our 12-Months Warranty.

The Watch

Hanhart was founded in 1882 by watchmaker Johann A. Hanhart. Situated in the small town of Diessenhofen near the River Rhine in Switzerland. In 1902 he relocated to Schwenningen in southern Germany, Johann's son Wilhelm Julius joined the company in 1920. Innovation and efficient manufacturing techniques saw the introduction of a mechanical stopwatch in 1924. By 1926 they had increased the product range to include wristwatches. In 1938 they produced the single-button “Calibre 40”, which became the mainstay of the company. Expansion during 1939 had the company employing 200 staff. Hanhart chronographs were worn by pilots and naval officers with the production of the iconic “Calibre 41”, their first two-button chronograph. During the war years, production had to stop and Wilhelm fled to neutral Switzerland not returning to Germany until 1949. They entered the very first Baselworld in 1952. The Hanhart Calibre 42 was developed in 1957 and was used by the Luftwaffe of Germany in 1962. Celebrating their 175th Anniversary in 2007 they created the “Opus 41” a hand-wound chronograph in platinum, equipped with an original, Hanhart “Calibre 41”, which was limited to 39 watches. Today they continue to create timepieces using the latest technology and materials whilst keeping to their founding principles.

Here we have an Unworn 2021 Hanhart Primus Desert Pilot Dark Limited Edition of 100 pieces. The 44mm stainless steel case is coated in black DLC. The angular lugs automatically adjust to the circumference of your wrist and have a lug to lug length of 54mm and a case thickness of 16mm giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. Down the right side, we have the chronograph pushers with the iconic red reset and in the centre a signed screw-down crown. The fixed fluted bezel has a single red dot at 12 o’clock.  A convex sapphire crystal AR coated on the inside sits above a sand coloured dial in keeping with its desert aesthetic. An outer minute chapter ring with thick baton markers. At 12 o’clock a large Arabic 12 with block indexes marking the hours. At 3 o’clock a 30-minute register and at 9 o’clock a small second register, finally, at 6 o’clock a date window completes this dynamic bi-compax chronograph. Skeletonised sword hands complemented by a tapered chronograph hand. On the reverse, a screw-down exhibition case back with a sapphire crystal, inside an Automatic Sellita SW 510, 27 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. This movement has been modified with a Hanhart skeletonised rotor. The watch comes fitted on a 24mm sand coloured strap with a black DLC folding clasp. The watch also comes with its Hanhart presentation box and papers.

Personal Note

It's not every day you get a Hanhart in for sale, especially a funky one like this with hinged lugs! Whilst this wouldn't be my usual choice I was instantly drawn to it as a modern version of a watch I recently picked up, a 1940s Zais Watch Chronograph with hinged lugs, it's almost like these two were the same watch born 80 years apart! I have no doubt they'll be many out there who truly appreciate this watch and have the wrist size to support it.
