The Watch
Here we have a 2021 Freese 101 Series 1 Automatic limited to 101 pieces, a 39mm brushed and polished stainless steel case curves over your wrist with tapered lugs leading to a lug-to-lug length of 47.5mm and a case thickness of 15mm ensuring a comfortable fit. On the right side is a crown with deep knurling for grip, protected by crown guards. A stainless steel bezel has a blue 60-minute dive insert with silver numerals and markings and holds a domed crystal above a heavily patinated speckled black custom-crazed dial, which Simon applies the ageing and finishing by hand for that vintage aesthetic. An outer minute track surrounds disc and baton indexes coated in patinated lume marking the hours, sword hands filled with patinated lume are complemented by an arrow pointed sweeping second hand. At 6 o’clock we have the Freese motif completing this rugged versatile sporty everyday timepiece. On the reverse a screw-down case back with Freese and 101/049 engraved into it, inside an automatic ETA Cal. 2824, 25 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour. The watch comes paired with its 20mm vintage style Freese leather strap and pin buckle and comes with its Freese box, travel pouch and paperwork.
Personal Note
This is the first Freese watch I have sold at KibbleWatches! I have been fortunate enough to have seen the watches before and I have always been impressed with the instant heft and sense of durability you get when holding one or on your wrist. If you are a fan of the design I would not hesitate to snap it up, especially as a lot of the details you see are done by Simon Freese himself here in the UK, a wonderful touch.
The Brand
The inception of Freese Watches occurred during a routine meeting between Simon Freese and William Roberts, a world-renowned watch collector in 2016. Based in rural Essex, Freese Watches produced its first timepiece in 2019, which sold out in just 48 hours. He also runs Simon Freese Watchmakers, a renowned timepiece restoration brand that was also established in 2016. Over the past seven years, Simon has earned a global reputation for his empathetic approach towards vintage watch restoration, specialising in the early Omega Speedmaster models. Simon boasts of a wealth of experience, having worked with Swiss Time Services Ltd, the largest Watch Service Centre in the UK, as a Workshop Manager for 15 years.
