Here we have a 2021 Fears Brunswick Salmon Dial Exhibition Back, made in small batches; each piece has a unique serial number engraved at 12 o’clock between the lugs. The inspiration for this watch's case comes from a Fears watch originally made in 1924; its curvaceous 38mm case is made from 316L polished and brushed stainless steel, and on the right side is a traditional “onion”- shaped crown. The polished flanks lead to a comfortable lug-to-lug length of 43mm and a case thickness of 12mm. A domed sapphire crystal sits above an incredible Copper Salmon dial. This special dial was first used on Fears watches of the 1940s and 50s; its rich tone is created by galvanic coatings of 18ct rose gold and copper, with vertical brushing. Concentric circle finishing on the sunken sub-seconds at 6 o’clock. The numerals are diamond-polished, sand-blasted, and coated in anthracite to give a warm, grey finish. Inspired by the many different typefaces Fears has used throughout its history, they were designed especially for Fears by a horological typographer. Skeletonised thermally blued hands complete this dynamic timepiece. On the reverse, a screw-down exhibition case back and inside, we have a hand-wound ETA 7001, 17 jewels, and 18,000 beats per hour. It comes paired with two 20mm Fears straps with its signed pin buckle engraved with the Fears pipette logo. This watch is sold with its original Fears presentation box, swing tag and paperwork.
