The Watch
In 2015 Farer, an independent British watch brand was founded by Stuart Finlayson, Jono Holt, Ben Lewin, and Paul Sweetenham. Operating out of Ascot, Berkshire in the UK. All having a passion for watches, their first creations were 9 quartz watches. In 2016 they launched three automatic watches naming them after British Royal Navy ships. Building on this success in 2019 they released two land speed record-themed watches and later a collection of chronographs.
Our 2021 Farer Lomond Pointer Date is named after the Scottish Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park in Scotland. The brushed 39mm 316 marine-grade stainless steel case. A lug to lug length of 45mm and thickness of 12mm gives the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, a signed screw-down crown recessed for protection. The sloping sides of the fixed bezel hold a flat sapphire crystal AR coated inside and out. The matte dark blue dial reminds us of the dark waters of the loch. An outer date ring has orange end-of-month dates. Arabic numerals and batons are coated in off-white SLN Grade A Super-Luminova marking the hours. Elegant sword hands are coated in a light orange SLN Grade A Super-Luminova with a blue second hand complete with “A” pointer and finally a red indicator hand with a crescent to highlight the date. Text is precisely applied at 12 and 6 respectively. On the reverse, a screwed-down case back with an engraving of mountains and water with “On Land and Water”. Inside an Automatic Sellita SW221-1, 26 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. The movement has hacking and quick set date functionality. The watch comes with three straps in the box: a brown 20mm American Horween leather strap, a dark navy blue waterproof 20mm NATO strap, and a 20mm integrated '5 rows' 316 marine grade steel bracelet with a three-fold clasp each has a quick release for your convenience and comes with its Farer presentation box and papers.
Personal Note
I have sold this model before and it really didn't hang around long at all, rightfully so because the value for money is incredible! The next brand I consider to be on level with these is Oris with their pointer dates, I'd be hard-pressed to choose between the two, but we know which one is more affordable... Snap this up before someone else does.
