Founded in 2005 by Mike France, Peter Ellis, and Christopher Ward, they started the world's first online-only watch brand. July 2nd, 2014 saw the announcement to a genuinely astonished watch industry their own in-house movement, Calibre SH21, the first commercially viable mechanical movement from a British watch brand in over 50 years.
The C65 Sandhurst is clearly inspired by the iconic Smiths W10, representing the British Army. Their business and reputation have grown exponentially over the past 10 years. Like the W10 this watch has been made in conjunction with the MOD Ministry of Defence. It is their first true field watch and meets all MOD specifications.
The 38mm stainless steel round case gently curves over your wrist with tapered lugs. A lug to lug length of 43.5mm and a thickness of 11.5mm ensures a comfortable fit. Brushed and polished bevelled edges transition with crisp lines. On the right side a screw-down crown with the flag logo and red accent matching the red-tipped second’s hand. A stepped brushed bezel has bevelled polished edges. The box-glass Sapphire crystal is a modern twist and harkens back to the original W10 of the 1960s which used a glass-box crystal. A textured matte black dial has a precisely printed minute track with batons at every quarter and lume pips coated in Old Radium Super-LumiNova in between. A triangle at 12. Arabic numerals printed with white TC-1 Super-LumiNova mark the hours. Long baton hands with a chamfered edge are coated in the same Old Radium Super-LumiNova. On the reverse, a high relief British Army heraldic badge in the centre. Inside an Automatic Sellita SW200 COSC, 26 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. This is a high accuracy Sellita meeting the COSC certification. The watch comes fitted on a Christopher Ward 20mm Marine-grade stainless steel bracelet with a ratchet clasp for micro-adjustments and quick-release for easy changing. Comes with its original presentation box and papers including the COSC certificate.
