Description

Here we have a 2020s LPW Luna One Forged Carbon Prototype 42mm, a mesmerising, hyper-contemporary horological experiment that represents the absolute bleeding edge of independent case manufacturing. The centrepiece of this watch is its incredibly lightweight and ultra-durable 42mm forged carbon fibre case. Formed under immense heat and pressure, the carbon fibres align randomly, ensuring the marbled, dark grey and charcoal aesthetics of the case body are unique to this timepiece. With a versatile case thickness of 13.5mm and a well-proportioned lug-to-lug length of 50mm, its ergonomic geometry and near-weightless construction ensure an exceptionally agile, comfortable, and striking presence on the wrist. The stealthy matte finish of the carbon shell is capped by a matching bezel, while a tactical screw-down crown secures its internal architecture. A box-type sapphire crystal sits flush over a deeply brooding, industrial dial layout that embraces raw, architectural geometry. Ditching a traditional date window to favour pure, uncompromised symmetry, the dial cleanly lays out the time with high-contrast, applied hour markers and hands. The athletic layout is generously filled with premium Swiss Super-LumiNova to guarantee exceptional low-light legibility against the dark, textured backdrop. On the reverse, a solid case back protects the high-grade components beating inside. Beneath the dial lies the premium, Swiss-made Sellita automatic cal. SW200-1 movement, a highly reliable, high-beat industry workhorse operating at a smooth frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz). Utilising 26 jewels, this self-winding calibre features hacking seconds, making it the perfect mechanical engine for a high-performance prototype build. This rare reference comes with a 22mm strap setup, finished with a blacked-out tang buckle. The watch comes complete with its presentation box.

Personal Note

How often do you get the opportunity to own a watch that never actually made it into production? That's exactly what makes this LPW Luna One prototype so interesting to me. The forged carbon case is absolutely brilliant, with its unique marbled finish, incredibly lightweight construction and bold, modern design. It's a fascinating glimpse into what could have been, and I love the idea of owning something that never became a regular production model. But what makes this even more appealing is the price. For what we're asking, you're getting a huge amount of watch for the money, with a Swiss automatic movement, forged carbon construction and the added intrigue of its prototype status. A seriously cool opportunity to own something genuinely different. Snap it up and add it to your collection today!

About LPW

LPW Watch Co was established in late 2017 in Manchester, England, by Dave Sergeant, a longtime watch enthusiast and co-founder of the RedBar Manchester Chapter. This independent microbrand prioritises form and function over prestige, striving to create affordable, high-quality mechanical watches inspired by the designs that the founder personally wished to own. While the designs are created in Manchester, the individual components and assembly are outsourced to specialised manufacturing partners overseas.
