This rare piece is a collaboration with Simple Union, a Hong Kong artisan brand famous for antique Japanese textiles, and is strictly limited to just 300 pieces. A 40mm brushed CuSn8 bronze case provides an evolving aesthetic, engineered to develop a unique, personalised patina over time. A case thickness of 15mm and a lug-to-lug length of 47.5mm give the watch a bold, robust presence on the wrist. On the right side, a signed screw-down bronze crown sits protected by integrated guards, ensuring rugged structural integrity. The unidirectional bronze bezel features an understated, sterile design with a single luminous pip at 12 o'clock, focusing all attention on the artistry within. A domed Lexan polycarbonate crystal sits above a captivating "Kyoto" style California dial, which seamlessly blends the raw texture of the bronze case with Katazome-inspired patterns. The dial uniquely displays Roman numerals on the upper half and Arabic numerals on the lower half, rendered in a striking red-and-white colour palette reminiscent of traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The decorative scar on the dial is reminiscent of the traditional Japanese art of Kintsugi, which repairs broken pottery with lacquer dusted with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. Distressed skeleton hands sweep across the dial, complementing the weathered, antique aesthetic. On the reverse, an exhibition screw-down case back reveals the reliable Automatic Seiko Cal. NH35A, a robust workhorse movement featuring 24 jewels and beating at 21,600 beats per hour with hand-winding and hacking seconds. It comes paired with its 20mm custom strap crafted from authentic, century-old antique Japanese Katazome fabric, lined with premium leather and secured by a bronze-tone pin buckle plus an extra strap.

Along with his co-founder, Robert Tran, a software architect, Young realised that the modern watch market had become highly uniform and often lacked accessible choices for consumers. They established UNDONE to revive the historical approach of "making watches to order" by placing the design process directly in the buyer's hands. They decided to create a brand that would allow customers to design their own custom watches, giving them more choices and a unique experience. UNDONE launched as a successful crowdfunded project.
