Description

Here we have a 2020 Straton Speciale Chronograph Automatic Brown featuring a 42mm TV-shaped stainless steel case with a clear DLC coating for scratch resistance. The high sloping sides perfectly envelop the lugs. A lug-to-lug length of 41mm and a thickness of 15.5mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. Down the right side, we have the recessed chronograph pushers and a signed crown with deep knurling for extra grip. A domed sapphire crystal sits above the rich sunburst-brown dial, whose intensity changes as you rotate your wrist. The deep-sloping outer Tachymeter chapter ring in chocolate brown draws the eye to the centre of the dial. The inner minute track is precisely printed with applied baton indexes coated in Super Luminova with orange pips to mark the hours. At 12 o’clock, a 30-minute register; at 9 o’clock, a running seconds register; and finally, at 6 o’clock, a 12-hour register, each with the same raised orange frame, adding depth to this striking dial. At 3 o'clock, a framed day/date window. Long sword hands are coated in Super-Luminova and tipped in orange, complemented by an orange chronograph hand that matches the other hands on the registers. Its use of colour and the placement of the registers make it stand out from the crowd of 1970s-inspired chronographs. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with an interesting speedometer embossed into it. Inside an Automatic Valjoux Cal. 7750, 25 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour. It comes paired with its Straton 22mm leather sports strap and pin buckle. This watch is sold with its original Straton box and paperwork.

Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Straton box and paperwork. The watch comes paired with its original Straton 22mm leather sports strap and pin buckle. The watch is from June 2020 and is sold in worn condition, but overall it is in very fair condition, as you can see. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

Personal Note

This Straton Speciale Chronograph automatic not only offers a fantastic and unapologetically 1970s design with its brown dial and fun 42mm case, but it also offers insane value for money, packing an automatic Valjoux 7750. Watches like this are what make micro brands so great, offering something unique and at a price point that is hard to argue with. This is definitely one to add to the collection if, like me, you love 1970s designs but occasionally want something more robust and reliable that you don't have to worry about. Snap it up today!

About Straton

Kyle Schut, a South African living in Switzerland, founded the Straton Watch company in 2015. An avid motorsports fan and horology enthusiast, he designs his watches around the 1970s sports chronographs used by many racers. They use the traditional chronograph movements from ETA/Valjoux and a more modern Seiko Mecha Quartz, providing the same aesthetic but in a slimmer case.
