This watch is sold with its original Squale Box & Paperwork. The watch comes paired with a 20mm Squale rubber strap with a signed buckle. The watch is from July 2020 and is sold in worn condition, but overall very fair condition as you can see from the photographs. The watch comes with our 12-Months Warranty.

The Watch
Here we have a 2020 Squale 50 ATMOS Onda Azzurro 1521 Limited Edition of 80 pieces, that pays tribute to their dive heritage and specifically to their classic Charles von Büren designed Squale 1521. The 41.5mm 316L high polished stainless steel "von Büren" case has a lug-to-lug length of 48.5mm and a thickness of 12.5mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. The flowing lines of the case make it very comfortable to wear. At 4 o’clock a screw-down crown was recessed into the case to protect it against knocks. A 120 clicks uni-directional stainless steel bezel has a matte grey DLC coated dive insert with raised polished numerals, the bezel is screwed on for easy removal. The flat sapphire crystal has an AR coating on both sides for added visibility. A stunning Onda dial (Onda is Italian for waves) depicts the energy of the waves with its distinctive pattern, broad polished steel applied baton indexes with tips of SuperLuminova marking the hours, and at 3 o’clock a framed date window. Broad sword hands are coated in SuperLuminova complemented by a centre second hand with a lumed counterweight. The text on the dial is in their traditional font. The polished screw-down case back has Squale acid etched in the centre, inside an automatic ETA 2824 Elabore, 25 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour, the movement is the improved version that has been adjusted in three positions, and it has hacking and hand-winding functionality. The watch comes paired with a Squale 20mm thick rubber strap with a signed buckle and also comes with its original Squale presentation box and papers.
Personal Note
We have sold the Onda Azzuro blue in the past and it was such a lovely example so when this subtle purple reference appeared we were delighted to bring it to sale, I actually prefer this dial to the Azzuro, especially on the wrist. This purple is subtle and works perfectly with the wave dial and the bezel, it shines on the wrist without being too loud!
The Brand
Squale was founded by Charles von Büren in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, in 1946 as a manufacturer of watchcases and other components for other watch brands. In 1950 von Buren began to produce professional dive watches under the Squale name. During the 1960s and 70s, Squale produced cases for many brands including Prima, Blandford, Deman Watch, Berio and Sinn. In 1974 Squale decided to enter the watch market in their own right. Unfortunately like many other watch brands during the “quartz crisis” they stopped production in 1989. Relaunching the brand in 2010 the Maggi family who were previously distributors of von Buren and Squale watches in Italy. Their headquarters can be found in Milan, with watch production in Grenchen in the Jura Valley Switzerland.
