Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Oris box and Oris paperwork. The watch comes paired with its original Oris stainless steel bracelet with a signed Oris clasp. The watch is from October 2020 and is sold in worn condition, but overall great condition as you can see. The watch comes with our 12-Month Warranty.

The Watch

Oris was founded by Paul Cattin and George Christian in the Swiss town of Hölstein.  They bought a factory and signed a contract with the mayor in 1904. Initially making pocket watches in 1925 they started to add bracelets to their pocket watches which soon transitioned into the wristwatch. By 1929, they had a total of six factories. At the end of the 1960s, Oris became one of the largest watch companies in the world, producing approximately 1.2 million timepieces a year. In 1982 Dr Rolf Portmann and Ulrich W. Herzog led a management buyout from Swatch Group. Unhappy with the way the Group was running things. Oris SA was born as an independent Swiss watch brand. 2002 saw their distinctive Red Rotor become an Oris registered Trademark.

Unveiled in 2015 at Baselworld the Oris Divers Sixty-Five, is a heritage lineup capturing the essence of the original, with the use of modern materials and movements to bring it up to date. Unlike the original, the case size is a more contemporary 40mm. Oris introduced this Bi-colour model at Baselworld 2019. The case is polished on its sides whilst the lug tops are brushed creating a seamless transition between the two. The bronze bezel is unidirectional with a lume pip at 12 o’clock and numerals in relief, the edges have enough ridge depth to make turning a breeze. The bronze has an even patina. It is clearly marked for 0-60 minutes. The screw-down signed crown is large enough for easy adjustment. A domed Sapphire crystal is AR coated allowing for excellent viewing angles under different lighting conditions. The glossy blue dial has applied rose gold coated PVD disc and baton indexes coated in light Old Radium SuperLuminova. At 6 o’clock a date window. Sword hands with a lollipop sweeping seconds hand are again rose gold coated PVD coated in light Old Radium SuperLuminova. The watch oozes 60s appeal. On the reverse, a polished screw-down case back with an engraved Oris shield in the centre. Inside an Automatic Sellita SW-200, 26 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. A robust and reliable movement. The watch comes fitted on a 20mm Oris Steel bracelet with a signed push-button release folding clasp and also comes with its Oris presentation box and paperwork.

Personal Note

This watch was purchased on the strap originally and later the Oris steel bracelet was purchased, today this model is offered on a Steel & Bronze bracelet which we have sold in the past, however, I personally much prefer this look on the all-steel bracelet and I'm surprised it's not an option Oris provides at retail!
