The Watch

Here we have a 2020 Laco Flieger 43mm Limited Topper Edition of 100 862122, this is the eighth Topper Edition and their first pilot watch collaboration, Topper Jewellers is based in the heart of Silicon Valley, Burlingame, California USA, a successful jeweller since 1940 owned by the Caplan family and has been an Omega dealer since the 1960s, today they are an authorised dealer for many respected brands including Moser, Zenith, Longines, Grand Seiko, Laco, Glashütte Original and many other brands. The 43mm polished and brushed stainless steel case sits on your wrist with tapered lugs, and a lug-to-lug length of 49mm and a case thickness of 10.5mm giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. Polished and brushed surfaces transition with crisp well-defined edges. On the right side is a signed onion-style crown, in keeping with its vintage aesthetic. A smooth brushed bezel holds a flat sapphire crystal AR coated above the striking white dial, the blue outer minute track has thermally blued steel baton markers at the hours surrounding Arabic numerals and the traditional Flieger two pips on either side of the triangle at 12, all outlined in blue and filled with BG-W9 Superluminova marking the hours. At 6 o’clock we have the sub-seconds below the elegant thermally blued sword hands filled with BG-W9 Superluminova, at 12 o’clock we have the Laco motif completing this vintage-inspired collaboration. On the reverse a screw-down exhibition case back engraved with the details of the watch and its limited number, inside a manually wound ETA Cal. 6498-4, 17 jewels, beating at a leisurely 18,000 beats per hour, pleasantly decorated in thermally blued screws and Côtes de Genève, perlage. The watch comes paired with a 22mm leather strap and pin buckle and the watch comes with its Laco presentation box, swing tag and paperwork.
