Here we have a 2020 Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Geographic Q1428530 launched in 2017, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Master Control Collection. The curvaceous 39mm polished and brushed stainless steel case curves over your wrist with thick tapered lugs, a lug-to-lug length of 46.5mm and a case thickness of 11.5mm ensuring a comfortable fit on your wrist. On the right side is a signed crown; on the left side, at 10 o'clock, the crown adjusts the city disc at 6 o’clock. A smooth brushed bezel holds a sapphire crystal above a striking two-tone silver sector dial, the outer circular brushed ring has a blue minute track precisely executed surrounding black Arabic numeral and baton indexes marking the hours; a large second time-zone subdial automatically corresponds with the 24 cities indicated below and is adjusted by the crown at 10 o’clock, a smaller AM PM indicator dial sits next to it, attractive thermally blued skeletonised syringe hands are complemented by a fine tapered sweeping second hand, at 12 o’clock we have the Jaeger-LeCoultre motif completing this dynamic travellers companion. On the reverse a screwed-down exhibition case back with the details of the watch engraved around its edge, inside an automatic JLC Cal. 939B/1, 34 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per Hour, a signature JLC Skeletonised rotor and decorated in perlage and Côtes de Genève. The watch comes paired with its 20mm blue JLC leather strap and signed pin buckle and the watch comes with its JLC presentation box and paperwork.

This watch is sold with its original JLC box and paperwork. It is paired with its original JLC 20mm blue leather strap with a signed JLC pin buckle. The watch is from July 2020 and is sold in worn condition, with a few signs of wear, but overall, it is in fair condition, as you can see from the photographs. I am truly amazed by how short this Jaeger-LeCoultre Master series was in production and it has only made them all the more desirable among collectors, with a few collecting the full series. This Master Geographic 39mm, reference Q1428530, is a serious piece of kit on the wrist proving the perfect set of complications for those travelling or wanting to track multiple time zones. In classic JLC fashion it wears beautifully on the wrist, is finished to an incredible standard for the price and is a surprisingly good value still on the secondary market, do not hesitate to snap this up whilst you can!

Antoine LeCoultre founded LeCoultre in 1833 in the small village of Le Sentier, Switzerland. By 1866, LeCoultre’s workshop had grown from home-run manufacturers spread across Switzerland to installing modern steam-driven machines to power the tools of all of the watchmakers, moving them from their homes and bringing them together in one central unit. Now named LeCoultre & Cie, the company became the very first manufacturer in the Vallée de Joux Switzerland. Antoine and his son  Elie LeCoultre employed more than 500 watchmakers in-house. In 1903, Edmond Jaeger, a watchmaker in Paris who made watches for the French Navy, challenged Swiss manufacturers to produce an ultrathin movement. Jacques-David LeCoultre, Elie’s son, rose to the challenge and created the world’s thinnest pocket watch, equipped with the LeCoultre 146 calibre, measuring just 1.38 mm thick. Over the following years, Jaeger and LeCoultre kept in touch, building a solid friendship, and in 1937, Jaeger-LeCoultre was founded. In 2013, they celebrated their 180th Anniversary.  Creating iconic timepieces like the Reverso wristwatch and the brilliantly engineered Atmos clock. During the war years, the Mark VII pilot watches of the 1940s were so accurate the Royal Air Force used them as aerial navigation instruments; later, they created the first automatic watch to house a power-reserve indicator in 1948 that was used by the US Army Air Corps. Jaeger-LeCoultre has developed and revolutionised the watch industry like no other manufacturer. Since 2000, it has been a fully owned subsidiary of the Swiss luxury group Richemont. This group includes Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, IWC Schaffhausen, Panerai, Piaget, Vacheron Constantin, Montblanc, Dunhill and Chloé.
