This watch is sold with its original Glycine box and paperwork. The watch comes paired on an original Glycine leather strap with its signed buckle. The watch is from October 2020 and is sold in worn condition, but overall very fair and close to new condition as you can see from the photos. The watch comes with our 12-Months Warranty.

The Watch

Glycine is a brand that has been around for a long time, since 1914 (A rough time to start a company) but it is most known for its Airman series which debuted in 1953 and was designed for pilots with useful GMT functions.

Here we have a 2020 Glycine Airman No.1 GMT GL0158 this is Limited to 1000 pieces, a faithful recreation of their 1953 Airman. The 36mm stainless steel case hugs the wrist. Polished and brushed surfaces transition with crisp edges. A lug to lug length of 45.5mm and a case thickness of 11.5mm gives the watch an excellent wrist presence. On the right side, at 3 o’clock a  screw-down crown to adjust the time and date. At 4 o’clock a second crown that locks the friction fit bezel in place. The bi-directional stainless steel friction fit bezel has black 24-hour deeply engraved numerals. A flat sapphire crystal sits above a black dial. This is a true 24-hour watch with the hour hand sweeping the dial only once per day. Therefore at noon 12:00, the hour hand points directly down, and at midnight 24:00 the hour hand points straight up. Pilots found this very useful as they were used to reading time in this way. Many pilots in the Vietnam war adopted the original Airman. An outer 24-hour chapter ring with the minute track underneath. At 3 o’clock a date window. The arrow hour hand and the sword minute hand are complemented by a lollipop sweeping seconds hand, coated in a cream luminescence and a steel GMT hand. Text is precisely printed. On the reverse, a screw-down case back. Inside an Automatic GMT. The watch comes fitted on its Glycine 20mm leather strap with a signed buckle and also comes with its Glycine presentation box and papers.

Personal Note

Glycine is another brand that has an incredible history and some very important watches in its archives, but again often overlooked and not given the time they deserve. This is the perfect example of that! A wonderfully proportioned 36mm GMT that is surprisingly thin and wears like a dress watch, but with all the form and function of a true pilot's watch with history and heritage... Plus, for the price, it is incredibly hard to beat!
