The Watch
Here we have a stealthy 2020 Farer Endeavour with a 41mm Titanium Compressor “C” shaped case coated in Black DLC, polished sides and brushed top surfaces transition with crisp lines. A true “Compressor” case construction with a lug-to-lug length of 46.5mm and a case thickness of 12.5mm gives the watch an impressive wrist presence, taking its inspiration from their late 1970s contracted German special-forces tactical watch with a black coating and printed Tritium dial, this watch was never released to the public. Down the right side, we have a lower crown at 4 o’clock with cross-hatching, once uncrewed you turn clockwise to rotate the inner unidirectional 60-minute dive bezel anticlockwise, at 2 o’clock we have the screw-down signed crown to adjust the time. A domed sapphire crystal sits above a matte black dial, and the inner unidirectional dive bezel surrounds applied steel disc, baton indexes and Arabic 12 all coated in white Super LumiNova, the steel sword hands are coated in the same luminance and complemented by a Farer “A” pointed sweeping second hand, at 12 o’clock we have the Farer motif and at 6 o’clock “Automatic 330m/1000ft” completes this tactical sports dive watch. On the reverse a screw-down exhibition case back, inside an automatic Sellita SW200-1 Elaboré grade movement with 26 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, the bidirectional rotor has a wave pattern and hand winding and hacking seconds for your convenience. The watch comes fitted on a Farer 20mm moulded natural rubber strap with a signed black DLC-coated buckle and the watch comes with its Farer presentation box, swing tag and paperwork.
Personal Note
All black watches are true "marmite", you will either love them on or you won't... I would highly recommend this one if you want to dive into an all-black watch but don't want to break the bank doing so, especially if it ends up not being for you! Though, I suspect this will easily surprise you on and off the wrist and stick around in the collection!
The Brand
In 2015 Farer, an independent British watch brand was founded by Stuart Finlayson, Jono Holt, Ben Lewin, and Paul Sweetenham. Operating out of Ascot, Berkshire in the UK. All having a passion for watches, their first creations were 9 quartz watches. In 2016 they launched three automatic watches named after British Royal Navy ships. Building on this success in 2019 they released two land speed record-themed watches and later a collection of chronographs.
