Here we have a 2020 Elliot Brown Automatic 101-A12 featuring a 43mm matte bead blasted dual-layered Bronze PVD-coated 316L stainless steel case, hardened to 1200HV (Vickers hardness scale), curving over your wrist thanks to the drilled tapered screw in lugs. Its curved flanks lead to a lug-to-lug length of 52.5mm and a case thickness of 14mm, giving the watch an impressive presence on the wrist. On the right side, at 4 o’clock, we have a signed hobnail grip with a triple gasket screw-down crown, sitting slightly recessed into the case. The 120-click unidirectional bezel features the same matte bead-blasted, dual-layered Bronze PVD-coated treatment, complemented by a lumed 60-minute insert coated in C3 SuperLuminova. A 2.8mm flat sapphire crystal AR-coated on the inside sits above a matte black dial. A 60-minute numerical rehaut surrounds a minute track with thick C3 Super-LumiNova-coated indexes, large 12, 3, 6 and 9 numerals at the cardinal points, and a triangle at noon marks the hours. At 4:30, a small, round, colour-matched date window. Sword hands filled with SuperLumiNova X1 C3 are complemented by a yellow-tipped sweeping second hand. At noon, we have the Elliot Brown motif, and at 6 o’clock, ‘Elliot Brown Automatic’ completes this striking traveller's companion. On the reverse, a solid, bolt-down super-compressor case back features the watch's details around its edge and an engraved Elliot Brown motif in the centre. Inside the Elliot Brown shock protection cell, an automatic Seiko Cal. NH35, 24 jewels, beating at 21,600 beats per hour, it features hand winding, hacking seconds and quick-set date for your convenience. It comes paired with its original Elliot Brown 22mm fitted rubber strap secured by a signed Bronze-PVD coated clasp, which will fit up to a 7.5-inch wrist. Elliot Brown was founded in 2013 by Ian Elliot and Alex Brown, who have a passion for the outdoors. Alex studied Horology whilst Elliot created a hook, loop, and webbing watch strap and founded Animal. They met at a time when Elliot needed expert help in developing a stainless steel watch. Alex turned down a job with Cartier to join up with Elliot. Their headquarters are in a working boatyard in Poole Harbour in Dorset. Each of their watches has a unique Dorset reference story.
