The Watch

Here we have a 2020 Direnzo DRZ 03 Eclipse Blue No Date Automatic limited to 750 pieces with a satin-brushed and polished 316L stainless steel case that has a polished chamfered edge that flows along the side towards the elegant tapered lugs, and a lug-to-lug length of 47.5mm and a case thickness of 12mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side is a prominent crown with deep knurling for extra grip, the rotating bezel has a blue insert with white markings and an inverted triangle at 12 o’clock holding a double-domed sapphire crystal AR coated above a blue sector-style dial with a gradation of dark to light towards the centre. An outer minute chapter ring has a rounded baton and disc indexes marking the hours, the dark blue centre has the Broad Arrow hands infilled with lume and at 6 o’clock a round date window. At 12 o’clock we have the Direnzo motif and at 6 o’clock “Automatic 20 ATM” completes this distinctive dive watch. On the reverse a screw-down case back, the Direnzo motif is engraved in the centre of an engraved segmented ring with the watch details around the edge, inside an automatic Sellita SW-200-1 Elaboré, 26 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, this workhorse movement has hand winding and hacking seconds for your convenience. The watch comes paired on a 20mm satin-brushed stainless steel bracelet with a flip lock signed folded clasp, all links provided, plus an additional two 20mm straps in the box, and the watch comes with its Direnzo presentation box and paperwork.

We have now had and sold a few Direnzo at KibbleWatches and I have been consistently impressed by their build quality and finishing, but where Direnzo stand out is their designs, beautifully executed with a soft touch, rounded lume plots and not-so-sharp hands etc... It makes for a great design overall and looks great both on and off the wrist!

Direnzo was founded in 2016 by Sergio Godoy Di Renzo, an architect by trade who decided to take a watch design course for some fun. Moving to Geneva, Switzerland. Their first watches pay homage to his grandfather who raced sports cars in the 1940s and 50s. The sleek designs of these sports cars inspired him, and later plane design became his inspiration. All the time looking to expand the creative envelope of materials and durability. Releasing his watches through a Kickstarter campaign in 2017 achieving full funding in just 4 hours. His second campaign reached its target in less than a minute. Confident in his abilities and able to build a strong team around him he launched his website and continues to see great success in his designs.
