Here we have a classic 2020 Bremont Supermarine S301 BK on a strap. The Supermarine collection is designed as a tribute to the 1930s British aircraft manufacturer Supermarine, famous for producing the Spitfire. With its 40mm Bremont Trip-Tick stainless steel case curving over your wrist, thanks to the thick, tapered, polished, chamfered-edge lugs, and sitting comfortably on its proprietary shock-absorbing black DLC-treated centre case barrel. The curvaceous flanks lead to a lug-to-lug length of 49mm and a case thickness of 12mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, a deeply knurled signed crown. The unidirectional coin-edged bezel features a black ceramic 60-minute dive insert, laser-engraved and filled with Super-LumiNova, which sits above a domed sapphire crystal and a matte black dial. An outer minute track chapter ring surrounds the disc and baton indexes, coated in Super-Luminova, marking the hours. At 3 o’clock, a colour-matched date window is featured. Elegant syringe hands, filled with Super-LumiNova, are complemented by a red lollipop sweeping second hand. At noon, we have the Bremont motif, and at 6 o’clock, a red 'Supermarine’ ‘300m 980FT’ completes this aviation-themed tool watch. On the reverse, a screw-down solid stainless steel case back is engraved with the details of the watch around its edge and the image of the S6B Supermarine seaplane, which played a crucial role in the development of the infamous Spitfire. Inside an automatic Bremont Cal. BE-92AE, 21 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour. A modified ETA 2892 movement. It comes paired with its original, 20mm Bremont vintage-style leather strap and signed pin buckle. This watch is sold with its original Bremont box, travel pouch, and paperwork.

Personal Note

The Bremont Supermarine S301 was the brand showing the watch world they could make a 'smaller' dive watch and still keep their Bremont DNA, and I think they did a fantastic job of it. Regardless of what you think of Bremont today and what they have changed into, there is no denying the great design language of the watches from before, like this one. I would not hesitate to add this to your collection today whilst they seem massively undervalued and underappreciated!

About Bremont

Bremont was founded in 2002 by the brothers Nick and Giles English. Their watch designs are inspired by their love of flying and everything mechanical. During the 1990s, while flying their 1930s biplane over France, they got into trouble and had to land in a field. Not wishing to get the authorities involved, they were met by the farm owner, who gave them and the plane shelter. It turned out he had flown during the war and was an engineer. The brothers, grateful to the kind farmer, promised him they would never forget him; his name was Antoine Bremont. In 1995, they were involved in an accident and sadly lost their father, Dr Euan English, while flying their World War II-vintage Harvard aircraft. His loss and their injuries drove the brothers to create a fitting legacy. Moving into their Manufacturing & Technology Centre in 2021. Innovation and producing technologically advanced timepieces have been an ever-expanding experience for Bremont. Their military connections through special edition watches and tireless work with Help for Heroes and The Royal British Legion means their late fathers' legacy will continue to grow. They have a number of investors, including Bill Ackman, who has a minority stake and Hellcat LP, which increased their investment in 2023.
