2019 Seiko SARB003 Smoke Grey Dial Faceted Crystal 38.5mm

Here we have a stylish classic 2019 Seiko SARB003 Smoke Grey Dial Faceted Crystal introduced in 2006, it brings back a funky angular design seen in their 1970s Seiko Vanac series with a modern twist. The polished and brushed 38.5mm stainless steel case curves over your wrist with thick, flat-ended lugs, and a polished bevel edge leads to a lug-to-lug length of 44.5mm and a case thickness of 13mm, ensuring a comfortable fit. On the right side is a coin-edged crown. A smooth bezel holds a multi-faceted sapphire crystal above a smoke grey fumé dial with a concentric circular pattern; as you rotate your wrist, the crystal magically plays with the light. An outer minute track has applied fine baton and thick chamfer-edged indexes coated in Lumibrite marking the hours; at 3 o’clock, a framed colour-matched date window and elegant steel hands with a line of Lumibrite are complemented by a red diamond counterweighted tapered sweeping second-hand, at 12 o’clock we have the applied Seiko motif and at 6 o’clock “Automatic Diashock 23 Jewels” completes this striking vintage-inspired dress watch. On the reverse a screw-down exhibition case back showcasing the automatic Seiko 6R15, 23 jewels, beating at 21,600 beats per hour, with hand winding and hacking seconds for your convenience. The watch comes paired with its 20mm Seiko brushed and polished multi-link stainless steel bracelet with a signed push-button clasp and will fit up to a 7-inch wrist, and the watch comes with its Seiko presentation box and paperwork.

Seikos' history began in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori established the K. Hattori retail and repair store. In 1892, Seikosha was established to make wall clocks. 1895 saw the production of their first pocket watch. 1913 saw the launch of their first wristwatch, the Laurel. In 1924, the first Seiko was manufactured. Daini Seikosha (now Seiko Instruments Inc.) was established in 1937. Seiko was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 1949. The Suwa factory became independent and formed Suwa Seikosha Co., Ltd. (now Seiko Epson Corporation in 1959). In 1956, Seiko launched Marvel as their first true in-house-made watch; they continued to make this watch until 1959. Japan’s first chronograph watch was introduced for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics; it was called the Seiko Crown Chronograph monopusher. Not stopping there, Seiko launched Japan's first true divers watch, the Seiko Diver’s 150M fitted with the automatic Caliber 6217, which later was given the nickname “62MAS” by collectors. The company name was changed to the Seiko Corporation in 1990. Innovation at Seiko continues today with GPS Solar watches.
