The Watch
In 2011 at Salon QP in London, Giles Ellis introduced the world to his Schofield brand. He is based just north of Brighton in Sussex on the south coast of the UK. He is part of the British watchmaking revival.
Here we have a 2019 Schofield Beater with a 45mm bead-blasted stainless steel case. Its industrial design adds character and uniqueness to the watch. Sloping wide screw-in lugs with a lug to lug length of 52.5mm and a thickness of 14mm gives the watch an excellent wrist presence. On the right side, a deeply knurled crown. A smooth bezel holds a flat sapphire crystal AR coated. The sector dial has an outer light green ring with applied gilt numeral and dagger indexes marking the hours. An inner minute track surrounds its black center, a nice contrast, gilt-edged skeletonised sword hands have Super LumiNova tips. On the center, the cap has a small line which they call “Sign-of-Life”. At 12 o’clock the Schofield logo and 6 o’clock a red “B” Beater. On the reverse, a screw-down exhibition case back. Inside an Automatic 17 Jewel ETA. The watch comes fitted on its 24mm Schofield suede strap with a signed buckle and also comes with its Schofield presentation box and papers.
Personal Note
We have been fortunate enough to have had a few Schofield watches in stock over the years, they always impress me and I just wish I had a bigger wrist to support them as I'd likely have one! They know their design language, they know what they do well and they don't budge which is great to see! Onwards and upwards for all UK brands!
