The Watch
Here we have a 2019 Orion Calamity Navy Diver "666 Feet" Automatic inspired by the 666ft divers of the past, a 40mm brushed stainless steel case has a polished bevel edge leading to thick tapered lugs, a lug-to-lug length of 48mm and a case thickness of 11mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, a signed screw-down crown with knurling for extra grip. A matte blue ceramic bezel insert has BGW9 Superluminova luminance holding a domed sapphire crystal above a matte blue dial and an outer minute track has applied baton and dagger indexes infilled with the same BGW9 Superluminova luminance, baton hands infilled with BGW9 Superluminova complemented by an orange white tipped sweeping second hand, at 12 o’clock we have the Orion motif and at 6 o’clock “Calamity” a yellow “666ft” and Automatic underneath completing this vintage-inspired dive watch. On the reverse, a screwed-down exhibition case back, inside an automatic ETA Cal. 2892, 21 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. The watch comes fitted on its Orion signed 20mm brushed stainless steel bracelet with a button release deployment clasp with a flip-lock, and also comes with its Orion presentation box and paperwork.
Personal Note
The "Devil Diver" as I would call it, with the "666 Feet" stated on the dial, a nice nod to vintage divers. This is a fantastic choice for someone looking for a blue diver that is a little left field from the usual suspects and also priced incredibly well for the specs it boasts, I wouldn't hesitate on this one if you are interested!
The Brand
Orion Watches was founded by Nick Harris in 2019 after a cried funding campaign. After inheriting an Omega which he thought he could do the repair himself on investigation he realised this was going to be much harder so he ordered broken Seiko movements to practice on. This lead to modifying Seikos in 2015. Since then, he has qualified as a watchmaker at Seattle’s Watch Technology Institute.
