Helson is a Chinese company founded by dive enthusiasts and sports fanatics from Europe and Asia. Starting in 2011 their designs are inspired by dive watches of the past but use modern materials and movements to establish their reputation of robustness and reliability.
Here we have a 2019 Helson Sharkmaster 300 with a 41.5mm polished and brushed stainless steel case. Taking its inspiration from the Omega Seamaster 300 Big Triangle this is a modern interpretation of that watch. A lug to lug length of 47mm and a thickness of 13.5mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. The twist to the lugs and slight curve of the case makes for a comfortable fit. On the right side is a signed screw-down crown. Deep knurling aids you when adjusting the crown. The unidirectional bezel has deep knurling with polished and brushed surfaces, the sapphire 60-minute dive insert pays homage to the bakelite inserts on the Seamaster 300 from the 1960s. The double domed sapphire crystal has an AR coating applied on its inside. The black dial has an outer minute track with a large inverted triangle at 12 obelisk-shaped indexes with Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9 coated in SuperLuminova marking the hours. Plongeur hands are coated in the same SuperLuminova for a vibrant green luminance. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with the distinctive engraved shark in the center. Inside an Automatic ETA 2824, 25 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. The watch comes fitted on its original 20mm stainless steel bracelet with a signed push-button release folding clasp and comes with its Helson presentation box and papers.
