Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Christopher Ward Box & Paperwork. The watch comes paired on its original Christopher Ward signed brushed and polished stainless steel bracelet and folding clasp. The watch is from January 2019 and is in fantastic condition as you can see from the photos, likely worn only a handful of times altogether. The watch comes with our 12-Months Warranty.

The Watch

Founded in 2005 by Mike France, Peter Ellis, and Christopher Ward they started the world's first online-only watch brand. Launched from a converted chicken shed on a farm in Berkshire. Soon after the launch of the brand Dave Malone was a Tasmanian lecturer and watches expert. When he saw the press ad for a watch powered by an ETA 2824–2 automatic movement, he decided to buy one. He planned to write a critical review on the world’s largest watch forum, Timezone.com. Fortunately for Christopher Ward, his review was most complimentary. Stating the watch was the “best value mechanical watch in the world”. Sales immediately spiked and Christopher Ward became firmly established. After receiving such high praise in the industry and from collectors in 2008 they began work with assistance from a Swiss watchmaking company: Synergies Horlogères. Based in Biel, Switzerland. SH was owned and led by Jörg Bader who had the same vision Christopher Ward had on designing a new movement. After many years of design and development, July 2nd, 2014 saw the announcement to an astounding watch industry of their own in-house movement, Calibre SH21, the first commercially viable mechanical movement from a British watch brand in over 50 years.

Here we have a Christopher Ward C7 Rapide Special Edition - C07-42ADA1-SDKK0-PK with a 42mm stainless steel case coated with black PVD. Around the centre of the case, we have red anodised aluminium, creating a sporty profile. The case curves over your wrist with tapered lugs. A lug to lug length and a case thickness gives the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side is a signed screw-down crown. A thin 60 minutes bezel holds a sapphire crystal above a black dial. An outer minute chapter ring with applied double-height numerals and double baton indexes coated in SuperLumiNova SLN-T-C1. At 3 o'clock a date window. Long hands with strips of luminance complemented by a red tapered sweeping second hand. At 12 o'clock an applied Christopher Ward motif. On the reverse a screw-down case back with trident embossed in the centre. Inside an Automatic Sellita SW200-1, 26 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. The watch comes fitted on its 22mm black and red lined Piccari Italian leather Christopher Ward strap with a signed buckle. The watch comes with its original Box & Papers.

Personal Note

Hints of red paired against black always looks great, which is exactly why this Christopher Ward is fantastic on and off the wrist! Thankfully the previous owner has looked after his watches well, this is in fantastic condition and you'd be hard-pressed to find better unless it was brand new. I wouldn't hesitate if you've been after one of these!
