Here we have a 2019 Bremont Supermarine S500 Endurance 43mm limited edition of just 300. This watch's design draws inspiration from the legendary trans-Antarctic expedition led by Sir Ernest Shackleton, specifically commemorating the centenary of his historic "Endurance" expedition. The 43mm stainless steel case curves over your wrist, featuring Bremont's signature three-piece Trip-Tick construction with a protective black DLC-treated middle barrel. A lug-to-lug length of 51mm and a robust case thickness of 16mm give the watch an incredibly rugged and commanding wrist presence. Polished and brushed surfaces transition with crisp lines. On the left side, we have an integrated helium escape valve, while the right side features protective crown guards that shield a signed screw-down crown positioned uniquely at 2 o’clock for improved comfort. The characteristic unidirectional rotating stainless steel bezel features a 360-degree compass ceramic insert. The domed sapphire crystal, multi-layered with AR coating on both sides, is set above a matte black dial with an engraved globe. An outer black-and-orange 24-hour scale, precisely calibrated for tracking multiple time zones, is complemented by round and baton indexes in vintage Super-LumiNova marking the hours. At 3 o’clock, a neat date window offers everyday utility. The central hour and minute hands are executed with a matching luminous infill, complemented by a sharp, high-visibility orange GMT hand with North and a central sweeping red lollipop-tipped seconds hand. At noon, the printed Bremont motif sits proudly, while Supermaine and an orange "Endurance" signature anchor the dial script above 6 o'clock. On the reverse, an integrated screw-down exhibition case back is engraved with the watch details, alongside its limited-edition number of just 300 pieces worldwide. Inside beats the automatic Bremont Cal. BE-93-2AE, a chronometer-rated movement featuring a Glucydur balance, an Anachron balance spring, and a 42-hour power reserve. This modified calibre operates at 28,800 beats per hour and is COSC-certified for maximum precision, further protected by Bremont's proprietary anti-shock movement mount. This was Bremont doing what Bremont did best, a proper, over-engineered tool watch with a great story behind it. The Endurance has loads of presence, but the compass bezel, GMT function and flashes of orange mean there’s plenty going on beyond simply being a big dive watch. I particularly like the connection to Shackleton and the Endurance expedition; it suits Bremont’s adventure-led approach perfectly and gives the limited edition some genuine context rather than simply being a different colourway. Bremont was founded in 2002 by the brothers Nick and Giles English. Their watch designs are inspired by their love of flying and everything mechanical. During the 1990s, while flying their 1930s biplane over France, they got into trouble and had to land in a field. Not wishing to get the authorities involved, they were met by the farm owner, who gave them and the plane shelter; it turned out he had flown during the war and was an engineer. The brothers, grateful to the kind farmer, promised him they would never forget him; his name was Antoine Bremont. In 1995, they were involved in an accident and sadly lost their father, Dr Euan English, while flying their World War II-vintage Harvard aircraft. His loss and their injuries drove the brothers to create a fitting legacy. Moving into their Manufacturing & Technology Centre in 2021. Innovation and producing technologically advanced timepieces have been an ever-expanding experience for Bremont. Their military connections through special-edition watches and tireless work with Help for Heroes and The Royal British Legion mean that their late father's legacy will continue to grow. They have a number of investors, including Bill Ackman and Hellcat LP, who increased their investment since 2023. Nicholas English has remained as Secretary after resigning as Director, while his brother, Giles, resigned as Director in May 2024 and left the company.
