Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Baltic box and paperwork. The watch comes paired on a well-suited blue Baltic leather strap with a signed Baltic buckle. The watch is from September 2019 and is sold in worn condition, but overall very fair condition as you can see. The watch comes with our 12-Months Non-Waterproof Warranty to make up for the remainder of the Manufacturer's Warranty.

The Watch

Ettiene Malec, a Frenchman, founded Baltic in 2017. The name comes from his father’s birthplace in northern Poland near the Baltic Sea. His inspiration came after finding a suitcase full of his late father's watches with a notebook full of details about the watches. He soon after started to meet other collectors and started to collect himself. Then, seeing the huge interest in vintage timepieces, he completed a Kickstarter campaign with the Baltic HMS 001 and a Bi-Compax 001. Each watch is assembled in France near Besançon. Today the brand continues to grow through its social media presence and its website, to offer contemporary designed, vintage-inspired timepieces.

Here we have an attractive 2019 Baltic HMS 002 Silver "Sector" Dial. Clearly inspired by vintage sector dials made popular on Trench watches of World War 1. They were laid on a map table and the hourly sectors were used in plotting coordinates against a particular hour. The 38mm brushed and polished stainless steel case has elegant long tapered lugs. A lug to lug length of 47mm and a thickness of 12.5mm ensures a comfortable fit on the wrist. On the right side, a signed crown. A stepped flat bezel holds a high-domed Hesalite crystal. The silver “Sector” dial has a textured outer minute track with hourly batons. A silver circle of Arabic numeral indexes mark the hours and finally an inner textured area with a crosshair. We have blue leaf hands complemented by a white tapered sweeping seconds hand in keeping with the vintage vibe. Text is minimal and precisely printed. On the reverse, a screw-down case back. Inside an Automatic Miyota Cal. 821A, 21 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. The watch comes on its original 20mm Baltic leather strap with a signed buckle. Comes with its Baltic presentation box and papers.

Personal Note

I have been fortunate to have had multiple Baltic watches in for sale and on my desk over the years, they have all been fantastic but I have to say the latest releases from Baltic seem to have definitely taken a step up in quality and feel on the wrist, so well done to Baltic on this! The design is great for this watch, that is one area I think most would agree Baltic go above and beyond on, design!
