The Watch
In 2011 at Salon QP in London Giles Ellis introduced the world to his Schofield brand. Based just north of Brighton in Sussex on the south coast of the UK. He is part of the British watchmaking revival.
This 2018 Schofield Raw Bronze Beater B2. Raw Bronze is made for everyday wear and will naturally patina over time without any chemicals forcing the process. Each watch is made in small batches and hand finished making each one slightly different and unique. On the right side, a double “O” ring engraved crown. The robust 44mm round case has a wide bezel holding a flat scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. A two-tone blue dial reflects the night sky and the deep blue ocean depths. Gilt framed Numerals at 12, 3, 6, and 9 have inverted dagger indexes in between marking the hours. Coated on SuperLuminova C3. An inner minute track is clearly printed in gilt finishing. Brushed Bronze Skeletonized hands have SuperLuminova C3 infill. On the center, the cap has a small line which they call “Sign-of-Life” second hand. At 12 o’clock the Schofield logo and at 6 o’clock a red “B” Beater. On the reverse, a screw-down stainless steel case back with “B2” with some complex engraving. Inside an Automatic ETA 2824, 25 Jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. Fitted on a leather strap with a red engraved buckle plus more straps.
Personal Note
Having now had a few Schofield's in stock I definitely really appreciate how unique they are and how much thought goes behind each watch, definitely not for everyone but that is what we strive to stock, the unusual and the different. The case and way this watch wears is seriously impressive, if you're able to come to the Savile Row popup whilst we are here I'd highly recommend coming to try it on!
