The Watch

Here we have a now discontinued and no longer in production 2018 Garrick Regulator 'Honeycomb' Dial. This is one of two watches Dave Brailsford made, showcasing the different finishes they can do. With a curvaceous 42mm polished and brushed 316L stainless steel case that curves over your wrist, thanks to the tapered drilled lugs. The polished chamfered edge leads to a lug-to-lug length of 50.5mm and a case thickness of 13mm, ensuring a comfortable fit on your wrist. On the right side is an onion crown. The smooth, polished bezel holds a sapphire crystal AR-coated above a striking Honeycomb dial, adding depth and interest. At 12 o’clock, we have the sub-seconds; at 3 o’clock, a minute's ring; at 6 o’clock, the hours, each attractively set off centre with handmade hands, including a specially requested blued hour hand by the original owner. At 10 o’clock, we have an open-heart cutout showing the free-sprung balance wheel of the modified movement. And in the bottom corner, you will find the Garrick motif on a screwed-down plate. On the reverse, a screw-down solid case back engraved with “Expertly Crafted and Assembled by Hand in England” and “Garrick” across the centre, inside a manually wound Garrick Cal. SM001 movement, beating at a leisurely 18,000 beats per hour, a modified Unitas manual wind movement with an exclusive gear train and In-house free-sprung balance. It comes paired with its 22mm leather strap with its original signed pin buckle. This watch is sold with its original Garrick Watchmakers box, leather key ring, spring bar removal tool and paperwork.

Personal Note

It is far from every day that a Garrick comes up for sale, so when one does, it is seriously worth considering for any collector who enjoys what the brand produces. Based in Norfolk and established in 2014, Garrick has become a staple of the British Watchmaker scene as one of the brands that does far more in-house work than most others, especially at their price point. The dial and movement modification in this Regulator MK1 'Honeycomb' is a testament to the handwork that goes into Garrick watches. I would not hesitate to book an appointment to see this incredible watch in the metal and on wrist for yourself!

The Brand

Garrick Watchmakers, a British watchmaking company, was established in 2014 by David Brailsford and Simon Michlmayr. The company prides itself on creating exquisite timepieces that are meticulously crafted by hand and are produced in limited volumes. Garrick's workshop is located in Norfolk, where they carefully manufacture a maximum of 50 watches per year. The company uses parts that are engineered in Norwich, England, ensuring that every watch is made with the utmost precision and attention to detail. By renouncing mass production techniques, Garrick aims to create distinct and unique timepieces that are true works of art.
