Description

Here we have a 2018 Farer Segrave (MK1) Mechanical Chronograph, named after Henry Segrave, a British pioneer in speed trials. He was the first person to set records for both the fastest land speed and the fastest water speed simultaneously. Its 39mm polished and brushed stainless steel case sits comfortably on your wrist with tapered lugs. The flanks of the watch have polished edges and micro-blasted cut-in sections, adding depth and interest to the case. Its lug-to-lug length of 46mm and case thickness of 12.5mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, we have the rectangular chronograph pushers and a bronze, signed, coin-edged crown at the centre. The polished and brushed smooth bezel holds a flat sapphire crystal AR-coated above a dynamic matte black bicompax dial. An outer Tachymeter scale chapter ring in blue numerals surrounds a minute track precisely executed with green accents, the applied steel thick baton indexes are filled with Super-LumiNova marking the hours; at 3 o’clock we have a white recessed running seconds register with a green hand; at 6 o’clock a colour matched date window and finally at 9 o’clock a white recessed 30-minute register with a black stick hand, thin baton hands are filled with Super-LumiNova, complemented by an orange tapered chronograph hand, the Farer motif sits at noon and at 6 o’clock ‘Chronograph Automatic’ completes this colourful bicompax sports watch. On the reverse, a screwed-down exhibition case back is engraved with the details of the watch around its edge. Inside, an automatic ETA 2894-2 Elaboré, 37 jewels, beats at 28,800 beats per hour. This high-quality movement is based on the ETA 2892, fitted with a chronograph module. The skeletonised signed bronze ‘turbine’ bidirectional rotor. It comes paired with its quick-release 20mm leather strap and signed pin buckle. This watch is sold with its original Farer box and paperwork.

This watch is sold with its original Farer box and paperwork. It comes paired with its original 20mm Farer leather strap with its signed pin buckle. The watch is from November 2018 and is sold in worn condition, but overall, it is in fair condition, as you can see from the photos. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

Personal Note

Whilst Farer continues to knock out hit after hit, we shouldn't forget some of their older models like this Seagrave MK1 chronograph. Powered by the impressive automatic ETA 2894-2 Elaboré, this watch punches well above its price tag. Whilst this model is a little more toned down than some of Farer's more colourful choices, this reference still has a ton of character on the wrist. Don't hesitate to add this watch to your collection today!

About Farer

In 2015, Stuart Finlayson, Jono Holt, Ben Lewin, and Paul Sweetenham founded Farer, an independent British watch brand operating out of Ascot, Berkshire, in the UK. All of them had a passion for watches, and their first creations were nine quartz watches. In 2016, they launched three automatic watches named after British Royal Navy ships. Building on this success in 2019, they released two land speed record-themed watches and a collection of chronographs.
