Points of Mention

This watch is sold with an original Ressence 3D printed box & Ressence paperwork, a USB stick with a digital manual, and special frisbee. The watch comes with its original Cognac shell cordovan, grey calfskin, and black nylon strap plus an additional brown leather strap it's fitted with. The watch is from May 2017 and is in worn condition, however as you can see from the photos it is in great overall condition with only a few signs of wear. The watch comes with our 12-Months Warranty.

The Watch

Belgian industrial designer Benoît Mintiens founded the Ressence brand in 2010. The name is a combination of the words “Renaissance” and “Essence”. The company's first watch was launched at Baselworld in 2010. The Ressence Zero Series features the brand's now-trademark revolving minutes dial, with subdials for hours, seconds, and AM/PM. The design was reminiscent of the iconic Harry Winston Opus X, designed by Jean-François Mojon and Chronode, which also appeared at that event and also had a dial that revolved once each day. The launch of their Type 3, the first-ever oil-filled mechanical watch, took the industry by surprise in 2013. Invisible to the eye, the fluid eliminates refraction between the crystal and the dial.

Here we have a special 2017 Ressence X Hodinkee Type 1H limited to 20 pieces created in collaboration with Hodinkee. The 41.5mm brushed stainless steel case curves over your wrist with a fixed lug to lug length of 49.5mm and a case thickness of 11.5mm giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. A polished bezel holds a domed sapphire crystal AR coated on both sides. The dial is made up of sandblasted skeletonised German silver convex discs. Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS) was developed in-house using discs and rings which rotate in unison. An outer minute ring and three discs for the day AM and PM, seconds and hours with dark grey SuperLumiNova infilled hands co-ordinating with the outer minute ring. On the reverse, we have the rimmed case back which is turned left and right to wind the watch. To adjust the time and day AM PM you turn the case back a number of times depending on what you are adjusting. A USB with the digital manual will help in this regard. Engraved into it we have the instructions, the Hodinkee Ressence, and the number out of 20 pieces. Inside an Automatic ROCS1 Module, 40 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. This movement has a base of ETA Cal. 2824/2 which is highly customised, it is driven by the minute axle of the 2824/2. The watch comes with four straps brown leather, Cognac shell cordovan, grey calfskin, and black nylon. The watch also comes with its custom-made 3D-printed spherical box with an "H" logo, USB stick with a digital manual, papers, and special frisbee.

Personal Note

This is a watch I remember being released and thinking "How cool is that?!" and only dreaming of ever seeing one in the metal, here we are 5 years later and we have one for sale! A true honour and I am incredibly excited to bring this to our website, painfully rare and equally stunning on and off the wrist, this is exactly the definition of "Unique" when it comes to watches for me.
