Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Perrelet Box, swing tag and paperwork. The watch comes paired with an 18mm Perrelet rubber strap with a signed black DLC-coated folded clasp, this strap will fit up to a 6.5inch wrist. The watch is from July 2017 and in worn condition but is overall fair, a few marks can be seen here and there on the case. The watch comes with our 12-Months Warranty.

The Watch

Here we have a 2017 Perrelet Turbine Erotic A4021/1 Limited Edition of 88 pieces, as part of their double rotor Turbine collection, with a 44mm black DLC-coated steel case that curves over your wrist with brushed and polished thick tapered lugs, a lug-to-lug length of 54.5mm and a case thickness of 12.5mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, we have a signed crown recessed into the case for protection. The polished smooth bezel holds a flat sapphire crystal AR coated on both sides above the characteristic double rotor 12-blade turbine dial, beneath the turbines we have drawn black and grey cartoon Erotic Japanese Hentai Manga-style characters in various adult poses with flashes of red, seen through the blades as you spin them and disappear when the blades stop. Erotic watches date back to the 17th Century when static images were painted on the dial or moving animated figures used in the pocket watch movement, disapproved by the Catholic Church as a response these watches were sometimes portrayed in satire showing Bishops and nuns cavorting. Sailors away for long periods at sea would have erotic images painted on their watch dials to keep them company. Brands in the 1980s such as Ulysse Nardin, Blancpain, Chopard and Audemars Piguet, have incorporated these lewd images on the back and fronts of their timepieces, in recent times Richard Mille and Jacob & Co. have created timepieces for celebrities. Small red Arabic hour numerals surround a minute chapter ring with raised Arabic numerals and obelisk-shaped indexes that appear to float above the turbine blades coated in Super LumiNova. Sword hands infilled with Super LumiNova are complemented by a red-sweeping second-hand, at 12 o’clock we have the Perrelet motif printed on the underside of the crystal. On the reverse, a screwed-down exhibition black DLC- coated case back, inside an automatic Perrelet Cal. P-181/Turbine, 22 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, it has a base of the ETA 2892-A2 and is made by Soprod exclusively for Perrelet, the ball bearing mounted oscillating weight is connected to the Turbine blades on the dial. The watch comes paired on its Perrelet fitted 18mm rubber strap with a signed black DLC-coated folded clasp, and the watch comes with its Perrelet presentation box, swing tag and paperwork.

Personal Note

The Brand

Perrelet was founded by Abraham-Louis Perrelet born in 1729 in Le Locle, the heart of Swiss watchmaking. As a teenager, he developed his skills in making precise instruments. In 1777 he developed the first Automatic movement. Later in 1781 Louis-Frédéric Perrelet, Abraham's grandson was born and was trained at the Breguet workshops where he continued to develop intricate instruments such as the Astronomical clock and a flyback chronograph counter.  In 1995 House of Perrelet was relaunched paying recognition to the achievements of the Perrelet family quickly creating the first double rotor calibre, where a connecting winding weight of the automatic attaches to a rotor on the dial. Over the next ten years, they suffered financial problems and were bought by the H5 Group in 2005 relaunching the brand and giving them access to the Soprod movements helping them develop their Turbine-inspired timepieces. In 2009 they developed a unique Turbine model inspired by the double-rotor system that mesmerises as it spins at high speed. This led to the Turbine Chronograph and Tourbillon in 2013. As a tribute to aviation, they created the Turbine Pilot in 2014 a skeletonised dial with an aviation slide rule rotating bezel. The turbine theme continued with the 2019 Turbine Evo incorporating their new in-house P-331-MH calibre, their first COSC Certified movement.
