A 2017 Doxa SUB 300 Professional 50th Anniversary Limited Edition, one of just 300 pieces produced worldwide to celebrate the legendary dive watch first introduced in 1967. Its iconic 42.5mm stainless steel cushion case faithfully recreates the original design, featuring a highly domed sapphire crystal, distinctive no-decompression dive bezel and wonderfully vibrant orange Professional dial. Description

Here we have a 2017 Doxa SUB 300 Professional 50th Anniversary Limited 820.10.351.10, limited to just 300 pieces worldwide. This special edition celebrates the 50th anniversary of the legendary 1967 DOXA SUB 300, a watch that completely revolutionised commercial diving history and became the trusted instrument of Jacques Cousteau and the Calypso crew. The 42.5mm C-shaped stainless steel case sits on the wrist like a classic cushion, closely matching the original dimensions Urs Eschle developed. Polished sides and brushed top surfaces transition with razor-sharp edges towards the stubby integrated lugs, while a compact lug-to-lug length of 46mm and a case thickness of 13mm deliver a remarkably comfortable, historically accurate vintage profile. At 3 o’clock, a screw-down crown fits recessed into the case side for maximum protection and is signed with the iconic orange DOXA fish. The saw-tooth, unidirectional rotating bezel features a dual U.S. Navy No-Decompression chart, with an orange outer depth scale and a black inner minute scale. A highly domed, historically faithful box sapphire crystal mimics the original plexiglass and sits above the iconic vibrant orange Professional dial. Painted black block indices with Super-LumiNova centres mark the hours. A date window sits at 3 o'clock, while the highly functional asymmetric handset includes a small black hour hand, a prominent oversized minute hand for deep-sea legibility, and a black seconds hand with a square luminous counterweight. The vintage-correct dial crosshair features the classic layout: "DOXA" and "automatic" printed in the upper left, with "SUB 300" and "Professional" on the lower right. On the reverse, a screw-down case back proudly displays the historic sailing ship emblem in bas-relief alongside its individual limited edition number out of 300. Inside beats a reliable, COSC-certified Swiss automatic ETA Calibre 2824-2 movement with 25 jewels, running at 28,800 beats per hour. The watch comes fitted with its premium 20mm stainless steel "beads of rice" bracelet with brushed and polished finishing, secured by a signed folding clasp with a dive extension. This watch comes complete with its original Doxa presentation tube and full paperwork.

Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Doxa tube and Doxa paperwork. The watch comes fitted with its premium 20mm stainless steel "beads of rice" bracelet with brushed and polished finishing, secured by a signed folding clasp with a dive extension; all links are included. The watch is from November 2017 and is sold in worn condition, but overall it is in fair condition, as shown. The watch comes with our 12-Months Warranty.

Personal Note

There's something brilliant about a watch design that's barely needed changing in over 50 years, and the Doxa SUB 300 is a perfect example of that. The history behind these is fantastic, from the early days of recreational diving to Jacques Cousteau and the Calypso crew. That unmistakable orange dial, chunky cushion case and wonderfully quirky dive bezel are just as cool today as they were back in 1967. What I particularly love about this 50th Anniversary edition is how faithful Doxa has kept it to the original. They've resisted the temptation to reinvent anything, simply giving us that iconic design with modern reliability and a few subtle improvements. Limited to just 300 pieces, it's a fantastic celebration of one of the most recognisable dive watches ever made. I would not hesitate to add this watch to your collection today!

About DOXA

Doxa was established in 1889 in Le Locle, Switzerland, by Georges Ducommun. In 1921, Doxa became the supplier of dash clocks to Bugatti. In 1925, Georges became the vice president of the Swiss Horology Society. 1936, Georges passed away, and the company was now in the hands of his son-in-law, Jacques Nardin, the grandson of Ulysse Nardin. In 1944, the company was renamed “Manufacture des Montres DOXA”. The company was finally sold in 1997 to the Jenny family, transferring their headquarters to Bienne, Switzerland.
