Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Damasko pouch and paperwork. The watch comes paired with its original bead-blasted 20mm Damasko bracelet with additional links. Inside the box is an additional Damasko strap with a deployment clasp. The watch is from August 2017 and is sold in worn condition, overall very fair condition as you can see thanks to the material. The watch comes with our 12-Months Warranty.

The Watch

Damasko is the brainchild of Konrad Damasko, a family-run business founded in 1994. Based in Barbing Germany, they design and manufacture wristwatches. Their cases and movements have accrued several patents over the years. Including patents for super hard alloys used for cases and components. These cases are also supplied to Sinn. Specialising in mechanical watches and chronographs they have redesigned every inch of them. In 2014 they introduced their first in-house movement.

Here we have a 2017 Damasko DA44 that takes its inspiration from the SINN U2 range of watches. A 40mm bead-blasted Martensitic stainless steel case that has a Patented DAMEST Coating, ice-hardened all the way through to be scratch resistant. The steel is manufactured by Damasko which is unusual for a watch manufacturer. A soft-iron cage surrounds the movement giving it anti-magnetic properties. The case curves over your wrist towards tapered drilled lugs with a lug to lug length of 48mm and a case thickness of 12mm giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side is a signed screw-down crown protected by crown guards, the tube and triple gaskets provide water resistance. The bidirectional 60-minute bezel has a patent-pending ceramic ball-bearing mechanism that gives it a satisfying snap. A thin profile and deep knurling for extra grip. The white numerals against the black are a nice contrast and easy to read. The flat sapphire crystal AR coated sits above a matte black dial. An outer minute track has applied baton indexes marking the hours coated in SuperLumiNova luminescence. At 3 o’clock a day/date. The dial has a cross-hair design with sword hands coated in SuperLumiNova luminescence complemented by a red sweeping second hand. Text at 3 o’clock is precisely printed with the Damasko motif. On the reverse a screw-down case back with the details of the watch engraved around its edge. Inside an Automatic ETA 2836-2, 25 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. The movement has hacking functionality for your convenience. The watch comes fitted on its 20mm bead-blasted stainless steel bracelet which has gone through the same ice-hardening process giving it scratch resistance. In the box is an additional Damasko strap with a deployment clasp. The watch comes with its Demasko presentation box and papers.

Personal Note

Damasko really is producing some insanely over-engineered watches at incredible prices and I do think more people should be paying attention! They are producing watches that most watch brands would produce if they had continued with their same "tool watch" ethos from many years ago with today's technologies! This really is the "Submariner" of its day when it comes to engineering and ability, I'm amazed!
