In 2011 at Salon QP in London Giles Ellis introduced the world to his Schofield brand. Based just north of Brighton in Sussex on the south coast of the UK. He is part of the British watchmaking revival.
This 2016 Schofield Signalman Silvertop is limited to 300 pieces. Inspired by the 18th and 19th-century Lighthouses found around the UK coastline. It has a 44mm two-tone stainless steel case coated in black DLC with its shape based on the powerful lights used in a Lighthouse. The case has a 4 part patented construction of stainless steel which explains its 15mm thickness on the outside and a 2 part anti-magnetic movement shell. The crown has 2 gaskets once locked down which gives the watch 500m water resistance. The double domed sapphire crystal sits just under the lip of the mirror-polished stainless steel bezel giving it its name “SilverTop'' and it has AR Coating for better viewing. Silver Top was commonly referred to as the tops of the milk bottles delivered by the milkman and was his inspiration for this watch. The grey dial finely textured is multi-leveled with the applied numerals and indexes on the top level while the power reserve indicator and GMT Subdial, a date window at 3 o’clock is recessed on the lower level. The pusher for the GMT is unusually built into and through the lug, assembly to activate it you use the special tool included in the box. Its diamond-polished hands are held by tiny pins and filled with Superluminova. On the back is a screwed-down case back with a Lighthouse engraving radiating light. Inside an Automatic movement. The watch comes fitted on a Schofield strap with a signed buckle. Included are eight additional Schofield straps and three strap removal tools.
This has to be the deal of the century as you are getting yourself a wonderful limited edition Schofield plus an insane amount of straps which all look fantastic on the watch, this is obviously great if you are into Schofield, and if you aren't, come in and try it on and see if that changes your mind as a deal like this won't be seen again for some time!
