Description

Here we have a 2016 Melbourne Watch Company Portsea Ceramic Dial, a modern interpretation of the classic ‘Deck watch’, originally as a pocket watch, it became popular with sailors during World War 1, with a 40mm polished stainless steel round case that curves over your wrist thanks to the tapered lugs. Its curved, polished flanks lead to a lug-to-lug length of 47.5mm and a case thickness of 12.5mm, ensuring a comfortable fit. On the right side, we have a recessed pusher to adjust the Month and a signed, deeply knurled crown in the centre. A smooth, polished bezel holds a domed sapphire crystal AR-coated above a striking multi-layered white ceramic bicompax dial. An outer smooth raised ring has the minute railroad surrounds black Arabic numerals marking the hours; at 3 o’clock a Month register and at 9 o’clock a Day register, at 6 o’clock a colour matched date window, on the centre vertical patterned disc sits the elegant blued Alpha hands are complemented by a ‘M’ counterweighted second hand, at noon we have the Melbourne Watch Company motif and at 6 o’clock ‘Portsea’ completes this seafaring triple calendar timepiece. On the reverse, a screwed-down case back engraved with the details of the watch and an embossed Melbourne Watch Company crest in the centre, inside an automatic Miyota 9122, 26 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour. It comes paired with its 20mm leather strap and signed pin buckle. This watch is sold with its original Longines Box, swing tag and paperwork.
