The Watch

Here we have a 2016 Franck Muller Cintrée Curvex Green Automatic 5850 with a curvaceous 32mm Tonneau-shaped high polished stainless steel case that gently curves over your wrist with a lug-to-lug length of 44.5mm and a case thickness of 11mm ensuring a comfortable fit. On the right side is a signed crown, and a domed curved sapphire crystal sits above a stunning green Guilloché dial with a beautiful sunburst effect. Large Arabic white painted numerals radiate from the centre marking the hours, elegant steel sword hands filled with Super-LumiNova are complemented by a tapered sweeping second hand, at 12 o’clock we have the Franck Muller motif and at 6 o’clock “Platinum Rotor” completes this exquisite flamboyant dress watch. On the reverse, a screwed-down case back perfectly curved with deep engraving “Master of Complications”, inside a modified automatic ETA 2892A2 (Platinum Rotor), 21 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour. The watch comes paired with its original extra-long Franck Muller 18mm leather strap with a Franck Muller pin buckle, an aftermarket regular black strap is provided, and this watch is sold with its Franck Muller presentation box.

Personal Note

This Franck Muller Cintrée Curvex is a real show stopper thanks to that incredibly vibrant and striking green dial, the way it plays with the light and changes tone is something impossible to capture and impossible to turn away from in the metal. If you are a fan of green then this very well may be the perfect watch for you, the case shape is wonderful on the wrist and the overall fit and finish are amazing on and off the wrist.

The Brand

Franck Muller, the founder and former CEO of the luxury watch brand that bears his name, was born in 1958 with a natural curiosity for the art of watchmaking. He spent his childhood in La Chaux-de-Fonds, a city renowned for its watchmaking industry. At the age of 15, he enrolled in a watchmaking school to pursue his passion. After graduating from the Watchmaking School of Geneva, Franck Muller worked on repairing high-end pocket watches and with Patek Philippe watches under the guidance of an independent watchmaker named Svend Andersen. This experience allowed him to gain a deep understanding of the mechanisms that power complicated timepieces, inspiring him to establish his own workshop. In 1984, Franck Muller designed his first Tourbillon wristwatch, which was a technical marvel that showcased the full extent of his mastery. The watch was an instant hit, and he continued to receive requests for new timepieces, leading to the establishment of the House of Franck Muller in 1991 after meeting his co-founder Vartan Sirmakes. Franck Muller currently produces a limited number of watches each year for private clientele and has 570 official retailers worldwide, with five sites located in different parts of Switzerland.
