2015 TAG Heuer Carrera Caliber 6 Automatic on Strap

The Watch

Here we have a 2015 TAG Heuer Carrera Caliber 6 Automatic, a contemporary nod to the Heuer watches of the 1960s with a 38.5mm polished stainless steel case, a subtle curve of the case leads to twisted tapered lugs, a lug-to-lug length of 46mm and a case thickness of 11.5mm gives the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, is a signed crown. A smooth-stepped polished bezel holds a bevel-edged sapphire crystal above a sunburst silver dial, a raised blue 60-minute chapter ring surrounds applied steel baton indexes with chamfered edges marking the hours, at 6 o’clock a blue sub-seconds with a red hand and a date window, a nice contrast to the silver dial. Slender sword hands filled with luminance complete this contemporary sports watch. At 12 o’clock we have the HEUER motif, a nod to its heritage “Carrera Chronometer”, and at 6 o’clock “Cal 6” was printed inside the sub-dial. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with a red “HEUER” motif engraved in its centre, inside an automatic TAG Heuer Cal. 6, 27 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, the movement has a base of the ETA 2895-2. The watch comes fitted with a 19mm black sports-style strap with a Heuer signed double folding clasp and the watch comes with its TAG HEUER presentation box and paperwork.

This is a fantastic reference by TAG Heuer and really captures the vintage charm of a Carrera whilst bringing modern design and standards to the table, plus at 38.5mm it is a perfect middle ground for everyone and would suit most wrists. Then we come to value, in my mind this is a great value-for-money purchase from a brand that is, unfortunately, often overlooked by collectors.
