Description

Here we have the charismatic 2015 Schofield Signalman GMT Polished Limited Edition of 300 pieces. It is inspired by the 18th and 19th-century Lighthouses found around the UK coastline. It features a 44mm mirror-polished stainless steel case, whose shape is inspired by the powerful lights used in a Lighthouse. The case features a four-part, patented construction of polished stainless steel, which accounts for its 15mm thickness on the outside and a two-part anti-magnetic movement shell. The crown has two gaskets, and the double-domed sapphire crystal sits just under the lip of the bezel. It has an AR Coating for better viewing. The black dial is made of brass and coated in copper oxide to give it its black colour; it is multi-levelled, with polished numerals and indexes applied on the top level, while the power reserve indicator and GMT Subdial, a date window at three o’clock, are recessed on the lower level. The pusher for the GMT is unusually built into, and through the lug assembly. Its diamond-polished hands are held by tiny pins and filled with Superluminova, complemented by a red-tipped sweeping second hand. On the back, a screw-down case back with a Lighthouse engraving radiating light, inside an automatic Swiss Soprod Cal. 9335 based on the Soprod Alternance 10 Calibre (A10) movement with the 9335 module placed on top to handle the Power Reserve and the GMT complications, 25 jewels, 28,800 beats per Hour. It is paired with two 24mm Schofield straps secured with a signed pin buckle and comes with its Schofield presentation box and paperwork.

Personal Note

I have always been a vocal fan of Schofield watches, with their bold and unapologetic designs and their enthusiastic CEO, Giles. Now, I'm even more biased, being a proud owner of a Schofield. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this watch and add it to your collection. It's big and bold and unapologetic in its design, as it was intended to be. These early limited edition Signalman GMTs are some of the best value Schofields on the market today!

About Schofield

Giles Ellis made a grand debut of his brand Schofield at the Salon QP event held in London back in 2011. The brand's headquarters are located in Sussex, which is a picturesque county situated on the south coast of the UK, just a short distance from Brighton. Ellis, a visionary watchmaker, has been instrumental in the revival of British watchmaking, which has gained significant momentum in recent years. His brand, Schofield, reflects his passion for traditional craftsmanship and is highly regarded for its precision, quality, and innovative designs. In the initial models, such as the Signalman GMT PR and its DLC variant, the brand established its identity with a combination of high-quality materials, reliable Swiss movements, and a touch of British flair. The Patinated Bronze Beater B3 demonstrated the brand's willingness to explore unique materials and finishes. In 2024, after maintaining the same core case design for almost 15 years, Schofield surprised the watch world with the Light. This new model represented a significant departure, featuring a smaller 40mm case size while staying true to the brand's commitment to functionality and meticulous construction. The Light offered a fresh interpretation of the classic field watch, incorporating subtle military influences and prioritising wearability. With the introduction of the Light, Schofield indicated its intention to expand its appeal while remaining steadfast to its fundamental principles. The brand continues to innovate, utilising high-grade materials and movements to produce enduring timepieces designed to endure the test of time.
