Here we have a 2015 Schofield Beater Bronze Batch 1 Blue automatic made for everyday wear and will naturally patina over time without any chemicals forcing the process, each watch is made in small batches and hand-finished making each one slightly different and unique. With a lug-to-lug length of 52mm and a case thickness of 14mm an impressive wrist presence ends with screwed lugs. On the right side, is a double “O” ring crown. The robust 44.5mm round case has a wide bezel holding a flat scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and a two-tone blue dial reflecting the night sky and the deep blue ocean depths. Numerals at 0, 3, 6, and 9 and inverted dagger indexes in between marking the hours, coated in SuperLuminova C3. An inner minute track is clearly printed, and brushed Bronze Skeletonized hands have SuperLuminova C3 infill. At 12 o’clock the Schofield logo and at 6 o’clock a red “B” for Beater. On the reverse, a screw-down exhibition case back showcasing the automatic NOS Synchron ETA. Fitted on its Schofield 24mm original strap with its signed pin buckle, and this watch is sold with its original Schofield box and Schofield papers.
I have been fortunate to have sold many Schofields over the years and have sold most of the Beater range, but this is my first of the Batch 1 with the blue dial, a lovely early reference from 2015 that features the striking big bronze case and the deep blue dial which pops in certain lights! Schofield is one to come and try on in person if you haven't had the chance before, if you have the wrist to support it, it's a big look for the money!
In 2011 at Salon QP in London Giles Ellis introduced the world to his Schofield brand. Based just north of Brighton in Sussex on the south coast of the UK. He is part of the British watchmaking revival.
