Description

Here we have an exquisite 2014 Piaget Altiplano Ultra-Thin P10920. This Altiplano collection, named after the planes of the South American Andes, features a minimalist concept design that showcases its Ultra-Thin movements, including the 1957 9P at 2mm and the 1960 12P at 2.3mm with a micro-rotor. Featuring a 38mm 18ct Rose Gold round case that sits comfortably on your wrist with angled, straight, flat-ended lugs. Its curved flanks lead to a lug-to-lug of 41.5mm and an incredibly thin case thickness of just 3.5mm, making it one of the world's thinnest watches. On the right side, a coin-edged signed crown. The slim, smooth bezel holds a domed sapphire crystal above the intricate skeletonised sunburst silver dial. An offset Anthracite grey face with rose gold baton indexes marking the hours and rose gold stick hands, secured by two screws to the baseplate and finished with the Piaget motif. To achieve the thinness, the caseback serves as the baseplate, saving space for the Manually Wound Piaget Cal. 900P movement, 20 jewels, beating at 21,600 beats per hour, skeletonised, it showcases its peripheral balance, gears, and jewels secured by visible anthracite grey screws. On the reverse, a screw-down 18ct Rose gold case back engraved with the Piaget crest and the watch's hallmarks and details. It comes paired with its 20mm Piaget leatherstrap and 18ct gold Piaget buckle.

Personal Note

Some watches surprise you in person and on the wrist far more than you expected them to; this Piaget Altiplano Ultra-Thin is exactly one of those watches. Featuring an 18ct rose gold 38mm case, this reference P10920 packs a punch at only 3.5mm thick and is powered by the manually wound Piaget calibre 900P, which is partly visible on the dial itself. To achieve the incredible thinness, the caseback serves as the baseplate for the movement. I would not hesitate to add this gem to your collection today!

About Piaget

Piaget was founded in 1874 in the small Swiss village of La Côte-aux-Fées. Georges-Édouard Piaget had a passion for watches from a young age. He created movements from his workshop. It wasn’t until his son Timothée Piaget took over that the business saw a huge expansion, building a new manufacturing facility. In 1943, Piaget became a registered trademark. Creating ultra-thin watches with their 9P Calibre, which was an incredible 2mm thick, a world record that they still hold. Today, Piaget is a subsidiary of the Swiss Richemont group. This group includes Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, IWC Schaffhausen, Panerai, Vacheron Constantin, Montblanc, Dunhill, and Chloé.
