Description

Here we have a 2013 SevenFriday Industrial Series - P1/03 "KUKA" 47mm (Ref. SF-P1/03). This watch's design draws inspiration from modern industrial automation, partnering with KUKA Robotics, the world's leading supplier of high-tech manufacturing robots, to channel the raw mechanical energy of heavy assembly machinery. The 47mm stainless steel "squircle" case curves over your wrist, featuring an avant-garde, TV-dial silhouette with black PVD-treated accents. A lug-to-lug length of 47.5mm keeps the watch exceptionally compact on the arm despite its broad diameter, while a case thickness of 12.5mm helps maintain a sleek, wearably streamlined profile. Polished and brushed surfaces transition with crisp lines, wrapped in a characteristic orange silicone animation ring that perfectly mirrors KUKA’s signature industrial corporate colourway. Down the right side, a smooth push-pull crown sits beautifully integrated into the side profile. The characteristic fixed stainless steel bezel is given a matte black sandblasted finish, framing a complex, futuristic engine room layout. The specially hardened mineral crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating on the inside, is set above a mesmerising, skeletonised multi-layer dial composed of six intricate layers of orange and gunmetal discs. This highly technical interface ditches traditional watch aesthetics for a dynamic visual display: a central, matte gunmetal minute hand is accented with a vibrant orange ring and a Super-LumiNova-filled tip. Horologically distinctive, the dial foregoes standard central hands in favour of rotating indicators. At 5 o'clock, a hole-punched gunmetal disc serves as a running small seconds wheel, while at 9 o'clock, a 24-hour disc monitors AM/PM cycles, displaying daytime in matte grey and nighttime hours in stark orange. An open-heart aperture nestled at 7 o'clock offers a direct glimpse into the mechanical balance wheel beating beneath the dial architecture. On the reverse, a solid, polished stainless steel case back is meticulously etched with an "infographic" style layout detailing the watch's specifications alongside a unique KUKA industrial robot graphic. Safely sealed to ensure an everyday 30-metre (3 ATM) water resistance rating, it protects the automatic Miyota Cal. 82S7 heartbeat within. This Japanese-made mechanical workhorse operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, features 21 jewels, and delivers a reliable 40-hour power reserve. The watch comes paired with its original 28mm black silicone strap featuring contrasting orange assembly-line stitching and a signed black PVD tang buckle. Dated to December 2013, this striking example comes complete with its original SevenFriday wooden crate presentation box and paperwork.

Personal Note

It’s hard to believe a 47mm watch can wear surprisingly well, but somehow this really does. If you’ve ever tried a SevenFriday on the wrist before, you’ll know exactly what I mean. The short lug-to-lug, curved case and strap make those dimensions far less intimidating than they sound on paper, while still delivering all the bold wrist presence you’d expect. For whatever reason, when I think of SevenFriday, this is the reference that immediately comes to mind. The industrial design, crazy layered dial and unmistakable orange KUKA details just feel quintessentially SevenFriday to me. I would not hesitate to add this watch to your collection today!
