Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Precista box and paperwork. The watch comes paired with a 20mm leather strap. The watch is from March 2013 and is sold in worn condition, but overall great condition as you can see. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

Precista was an unregistered brand name used by Southern Watch & Clock Supplies Ltd based in Kent England in the 1950s, producing clocks and chronograph/timekeeper wristwatches and selling wholesale. They were a supplier to the British military with the G10 and W10 specifications between 1982-1984. In the late 80s early 90s, they were contracted to produce a 300mm dive watch; these were never given a model name so are recognized by their reference beginning “6645-99.” Southern sold the company to Apollo straps in 1997, Eddie Platts owner of Timefactors in 2003 registered the brand name Precista and a number of homage military watches are being produced and retailed by his company, Timefactors.

Here we have a 2013 Precista PRS-5 Chronograph with a 39mm sandblasted stainless steel case, inspired by their original British military-issued chronograph it has all the charm of a historical tool watch made to stringent specifications. Tapered drilled lugs with a lug-to-lug length of 45mm and a case thickness of 15.5mm ensure a comfortable fit on your wrist. Down the right side, we have the chronograph pushers and a recessed signed crown in the centre. A thin bezel holds a domed crystal above a matte black dial, an outer minute track is precisely printed with lume pips at the hours. Large Luminova C3 luminance coated Arabic 12 and 6 with smaller Arabic numerals in between mark the hours. At 3 o’clock a 30-minute register and at 9 o’clock a continuous seconds register complete this vintage-inspired bicompax chronograph. Elegant syringe hands infilled with Luminova C3 luminance complemented by a tapered chronograph hand, at 12 o’clock we have the Precista motif. On the reverse, a machine turned the stainless steel screw-down case back with Precista PRS-5 engraved into it, inside a Manually Wound Seagull ST-1901, 19 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. Tianjin bought the Cal. 175 machinery and designs from Venus and then decided to upgrade the original 17-jewel movement to this 19-jewel ST19 movement. The watch comes fitted on a 20mm leather strap and comes with its Precista presentation box and paperwork.

Personal Note

This is one fantastic homage and sold incredibly well when released, this was thanks to the design but also its affordability with the Seagull ST-1901 calibre which allows manufacturers to make a mechanical chronograph and insane prices! If you want to scratch that vintage military chronograph itch but don't want to break the bank, this is the perfect option!
