The Watch

Edouard Heuer founded The Heuer Watch Company in 1860 in St. Imier, Switzerland. Chronographs have been the mainstay for Heuer and later TAG Heuer. Featuring many models and configurations, expanding the possibilities to the full. In 1958 Jack Heuer, Edouard’s son, joined the company. In 1962 the first generation of Autavia was launched. Famously worn in the 1970s by Formula One drivers such as Derek Bell, Jacky Ickx, Emerson Fittipaldi, Clay Regazzoni and Mario Andretti, and many more. In 1999 TAG Heuer accepted a bid from LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton S.A.

Here we have a 2010s TAG Heuer Aquaracer "Pokerstars" WAF2013.BA0818 with a 41.5mm stainless steel case, this limited edition watch was made available in the Pokerstars VIP shop where you could spend your VIP points collected by high-ranking online players. The case curves over your wrist with thick slightly tapered lugs with a lug-to-lug length of 48mm and a thickness of 11.5mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. Brushed and polished surfaces transition with crisp edges, on the right side, we have a signed screw-down crown protected by crown guards. A wide stainless steel unidirectional bezel has large Arabic numerals and raised blocks marking the 60-minutes, on the inside is a black dive bezel, with Arabic numerals marking 60-minutes. A flat sapphire crystal sits above a black dial, an outer minute track is precisely printed with applied polished trapezoid-shaped indexes infilled with luminance marking the hours, and at 3 ‘o'clock a framed day/date window. Slender polished baton hands are complemented by a tapered sweeping second hand, at 12 o’clock the TAG Heuer motif, and at 9 o’clock the “Pokerstars” logo and finally at 6 o’clock “Aquaracer Calibre 5”. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with an embossed divers helmet in the centre, inside an automatic TAG Heuer Calibre 5, this is a movement based on either ETA 2824-2 or Sellita SW200-1 which features 28,800 beats per hour. The watch comes fitted on its original 20mm stainless steel bracelet with a signed folding safety lock clasp.

Personal Note

As someone who is a fan of poker and occasionally plays online at Pokerstars I just had to purchase this, I thought it may be a bit of a lucky charm whilst playing, unfortunately, it didn't turn out for me that way, but that's likely just me being a terrible player! Either way, this is a great opportunity to pick up a TAG Heuer Aquaracer with something a little more going on, a cool talking point regardless.
