Here we have a classic 2010s Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Duoface Manual 272.8.54, clearly inspired by the geometric forms of 1930s Art Deco. The Reverso was first introduced in 1930; it was made for polo players who wanted to protect their watch dials when playing. A 26mm stainless steel rectangular case, polished with deep horizontal lines, creating a classic look. The case gently slopes towards the lugs; its lug-to-lug length of 42mm and a case thickness of just 9.5mm ensure a comfortable fit on the wrist. On the right side, just above the crown, is the pusher to advance the Day/Night hand in hourly jumps. The flat rectangular sapphire crystal protects a silver dial with an attractive wave pattern finish, and black Arabic numeral indexes mark the hours. Cut into the dial are an inner minute track, a sub-seconds register at 6 o’clock, and fine-blued sword hands. The Applied Jaeger-LeCoultre motif sits at 12 o’clock. When you flip the watch, a flat sapphire crystal protects a black dial with Clous de Paris guilloche finishing, applied Arabic numerals at 12, 3, and 9, and slim baton indexes marking the hours. At 6 o'clock, a recessed day-night register with 24-hour Arabic numeral indices, perfect for setting when you are travelling and lume-filled sword hands. The case back is perfectly fitted with Reverso engraved on it, inside a manually wound JLC Cal. 854/1, 21 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. The watch comes paired with its original worn JLC 19mm leather strap and a signed double-folded deployant buckle.
