Description

Here we have the 2010s Gorilla Fastback 'First Edition' Carbon Automatic 44mm, which marks a bold, high-octane debut from the muscle-car-inspired brand. This collectable piece is limited to just 500 pieces and is one of the very first numbered watches launched exclusively on the Gorilla Watches webshop. Featuring a layered, aggressive 44mm forged carbon case, its square silhouette commands a presence on the wrist despite being remarkably lightweight. A vibrant, anodised red aluminium pinstripe transitions effortlessly across the case, sandwiched tightly between the marbled carbon middle and a scratch-resistant, black ceramic bezel secured by four corner screws. Its bold flanks lead to a lug-to-lug length of 56.5mm (48.5mm wide with the integrated crown guards) and a robust case thickness of 13.5mm. On the right side, a screw-down titanium crown ensures excellent structural security. A flat, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating on both sides, shields a multi-layered, dashboard-inspired dial that draws on mid-century American automotive design. The dial features a prominent, skeletonised white minute hand sweeping across highly legible Super-LumiNova Arabic numerals, while hours are indicated via a central rotating disc in the form of a steering wheel. A contrasting red sweeping seconds hand completes the racing-instrument look. On the reverse, a titanium caseback is secured by four screws and comes laser-engraved with the brand's disruptive gorilla emblem. Inside beats a workhorse Japanese automatic Miyota calibre 8215, equipped with 21 jewels, operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour. The watch comes paired with its original, integrated 26mm perforated black-and-red rubber strap and a branded titanium pin buckle, plus a 26mm Gorilla leather strap and pin buckle. It is sold complete with its original presentation box and paperwork.

Personal Note

Watches like this are exactly what KibbleWatches is all about. Alongside the Rolexes, Omegas, and Tudors, I love hunting down the weird, the wonderful, and the unexpected, and the Gorilla Fastback fits that brief perfectly. It's bold, unapologetically different, and doesn't take itself too seriously. From the forged carbon case to the automotive-inspired display, it's a watch that sparks conversation the moment it leaves the box. One of my favourite things about our weekly drops is that you genuinely never know what's going to appear next. It might be a World War II military watch, a vintage dress piece, or something as wonderfully bonkers as this. That's what keeps collecting fun, and it's a big part of what I want KibbleWatches to be known for. Snap up this oddball today!

About Gorilla

Founded in 2016 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, Gorilla Watches is a Swiss-based microbrand created by Octavio Garcia, former Chief Artistic Officer at Audemars Piguet, and Lukas Gopp, a former senior designer at IWC. The brand is renowned for its unique blend of avant-garde, racing-inspired designs and high-quality materials such as forged carbon, ceramic, and titanium. Gorilla Watches launched its debut collection, the Fastback, in 2017, drawing design inspiration from 1960s and 1970s American muscle cars. In 2018, the brand introduced its first wandering hours complication, the Fastback Drift. By 2021, Gorilla released the highly acclaimed limited-edition Outlaw Drift, which showcased radical new designs and featured the innovative wandering hours satellite system. Today, the brand continues to innovate with high-performance models such as the Thunderbolt Chronograph, which pays homage to 1970s prototype watches.
