Description

Here we have a 2010s Bremont Wright Flyer 18ct White Gold Limited Edition, reference WRIGHTFLYER-WG-S, limited to just 50 pieces. Released as a profoundly significant historical milestone, it was produced as an ultra-exclusive limited run of just 50 white-gold pieces to commemorate the birth of aviation and powered flight. This extraordinary piece houses an invaluable, authentic artefact secured directly from the Wright family estate: a genuine fragment of the original 1903 muslin fabric used to wrap the wings of the Wright Brothers' historic first aircraft. This unique timepiece features a 43mm 18ct white gold case showcasing a polished, classic pilot profile. The multi-layered case architecture features Bremont's signature three-piece Trip-Tick case construction with a contrasting decorative caseband, offering a commanding lug-to-lug length of 49.5mm and a bold thickness of 14mm for a powerful, robust presence on the wrist. A signed screw-down crown. The standout feature of this model is its multi-level, metal dial dressed in a clean, vintage-inspired white base colour that highlights the watch's historic depth. The layout features a clean, old-world configuration: period-style Arabic numerals, a contrasting silver running-seconds sub-dial positioned at 9 o'clock, and a stamped "1903" inscription referencing the exact year of the historic Kitty Hawk flight. Elegantly crafted hands and period numerals are filled with premium, bespoke faux-aged Super-LumiNova for a warm vintage aesthetic and sharp legibility in dark environments. Protecting this complex design is a domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an interior anti-reflective coating. On the reverse, an exhibition sapphire caseback displays the ultimate crown jewel of the piece: a period-decorated propeller-shaped rotor that encapsulates the historic Wright Flyer wing cloth beneath a protective crystal pane. Inside beats the automatic Calibre Bremont BWC 01, part-developed alongside the prestigious Swiss movement specialists at La Joux-Perret. This customised, 25-jewel mechanical calibre operates at a high-beat frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, featuring a bi-directional winding system, a Glucydur balance, and bridges finely decorated with traditional Geneva stripes. The watch comes paired with an integrated 22mm bespoke chocolate-brown alligator leather strap that tapers to a branded 18ct white-gold pin buckle, anchoring this ultra-exclusive piece of living history securely to the wrist.

Personal Note

What makes this piece so special to me is the genuine connection to aviation history. Knowing there is an actual fragment of the original 1903 Wright Flyer aircraft housed inside the rotor transforms it from simply being a luxury watch into something far more meaningful. Then there’s the white gold case itself. The moment you pick it up, the heft immediately reminds you this is no ordinary Bremont. It has a real sense of presence on the wrist, feeling incredibly substantial and reassuring in that way only precious metal watches can be. I would not hesitate to book an appointment and see this piece of history for yourself!

About Bremont

Bremont was founded in 2002 by the brothers Nick and Giles English. Their watch designs are inspired by their love of flying and everything mechanical. During the 1990s, while flying their 1930s biplane over France, they got into trouble and had to land in a field. Not wishing to get the authorities involved, they were met by the farm owner, who gave them and the plane shelter; it turned out he had flown during the war and was an engineer. The brothers, grateful to the kind farmer, promised him they would never forget him. His name was Antoine Bremont. In 1995, they were involved in an accident and sadly lost their father, Dr Euan English, while flying their World War II-vintage Harvard aircraft. His loss and their injuries drove the brothers to create a fitting legacy. Moving into their Manufacturing & Technology Centre in 2021. Innovation and the production of technologically advanced timepieces have been an ever-expanding experience for Bremont. Their military connections through special-edition watches and tireless work with Help for Heroes and The Royal British Legion mean that their late fathers' legacy will continue to grow. They have a number of investors, including Bill Ackman and Hellcat LP, who have increased their investment since 2023. Nicholas English has remained as Secretary after resigning as Director, while his brother, Giles, resigned as Director in May 2024 and left the company.
