Description

Here we have a rare 2010 MKII Kingston Limited Edition Auto Diver "Plank Kit" 39mm. The term "Plank" pays homage to the naval concept of a "plank owner", the original crew members present at a ship’s commissioning. Bill Yao offered this special kit to the first 100 early adopters out of the total 300 limited-edition pieces. It features a meticulously crafted 316L stainless steel case that serves as a faithful homage to the rare 1950s Rolex Submariner Ref. 6538 "Big Crown" worn by Sean Connery in the early James Bond films and the Rolex Ref. 5510 “Bond Sub”. A versatile 39mm case, a solid 14mm thickness, and a vintage-proportional lug-to-lug length of 47.5mm give this piece a commanding yet classic presence on the wrist. On the right side sits the oversized, screw-down "Big Crown" signed with the MKII logo, ensuring serious water resistance. A prominent, coin-edged 60-click unidirectional rotating bezel holds a retro double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, framing a flawless gilt-gloss black dial with stunning gilt-printed tracking and applied, gilt-surrounded indices filled with Super-LumiNova for exceptional low-light visibility. The dial is perfectly balanced, with iconic gilt Mercedes-style hands and a sweeping second hand, embodying pure vintage tool-watch aesthetics. On the reverse, a solid screw-down case back is cleanly engraved with its highly coveted limited-edition serial number 007 of only 300 pieces ever produced. Inside beats a top-tier, Swiss-made automatic ETA Cal. 2836-2 movement, heavily modified and regulated by MKII to chronometer-grade tolerances, operating at 28,800 beats per hour with robust reliability. This incredibly rare timepiece comes paired with its original 20mm stainless steel rivet Oyster-Style bracelet, evoking the exact look and feel of 1950s sports watches. Truly a collector's dream, it comes with its ultimate "Plank Kit" heavy-duty hard case, including all the original spare parts (an extra case, crown, dial, hands, bezel insert, and gaskets), the original toolkit, and paperwork. This incredibly rare timepiece comes with its original 20mm stainless steel rivet Oyster-style bracelet; all links are provided, plus three NATO straps and paperwork.

About MKII

MKII was founded in 2002 by Bill Yao. Born and raised in the US, he graduated from University. On leaving, he went into banking; it was here that his love for watches was rekindled. In 2001, he went back to education to get his M.B.A. He was the first company to offer customisation and parts for other makers of watches such as Luminox and the Seiko diver series. Building on this success, the company soon evolved, specialising in custom Japanese and Swiss-made watches under the MKll brand. MKII as a trademark represents their dedication to utilitarianism, reliability, and timeless styling.
