Here we have a 2009 Panerai Luminor Marina Automatic 44mm PAM00104 inspired by Panerai’s 1950s combat watch, the ref. 6152, with its iconic 44mm cushion stainless steel case, polished surfaces lead to thick drilled lugs that hug the wrist with a lug-to-lug length of 52.5mm and a case thickness of 15mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side is the characteristic crown guard with its release and locking mechanism; a smooth, polished bezel holds a sapphire crystal above a black dial. Luminor-coated Arabic numerals and baton indexes mark the hours. Luminor is based on Luminova and was developed by Panerai in the 1950s. The two hands are black-oxidised and infilled with Luminor luminance in striking contrast to the black of the dial. At 9 o’clock, a small second subdial; at 3 o’clock, a colour-matched date window with a circular Cyclops magnification; at 12 o’clock, we have “Luminor Marina" and at 6 o’clock, the “Panerai Automatic” motif completes this distinctive dive watch. On the reverse, a screw-down solid case back with the details of the watch engraved into it, inside an automatic Panerai Cal. OPIII, 21 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. This movement is a stripped-down version of the ETA/Valjoux 7750 P-1 without the chronograph module. It comes paired with its Panerai 24mm leather strap with a signed buckle.
