The Watch

Here we have a 2000s Ebel Sport Wave Steel & Gold Ultra-Thin Quartz with a curvaceous 34mm brushed stainless steel and yellow gold case that flows seamlessly over your wrist towards the soft rounded lugs, a lug-to-lug length of 38.5mm and a case thickness of just 4.5mm ensures a comfortable fit. On the right side is an attractive Gold hexagonal crown that sits recessed into the case, and five yellow gold-plated screws surround a Yellow Gold bezel that holds a flat sapphire crystal above a crisp white dial. An outer minute track with hour pips surround classic Roman numeral indices marking the hours, adding flair and sophistication; elegant stick hands sit majestically in the centre; at 12 o’clock, we have the Ebel motif, and at 6 o’clock “Quartz” in a hand script completes this distinctive dress watch. On the reverse, a screwed-down case back engraved with the details of the watch, inside a Swiss Quartz movement. The watch comes paired with its original 19mm Ebel Yellow Gold plated and stainless steel bracelet with a signed hidden deployment clasp, all links included, and this watch is sold with its original Ebel leather pouch.

Personal Note

With the rightfully deserved attention that Ebel is receiving from collectors today, I am struggling to keep the more affordable models in stock long enough for them to make it to the website before being sold. Somehow, this amazing Sport Wave in Steel & Gold has made it to the website. This reference 181903 comes in at an insane 4.5mm thick, making it a true ultra-thin watches and it just disappears once on the wrist. Do not hesitate to add this wonderful watch to your collection today!

The Brand

Eugene Blum and Alice Levy,  husband and wife, joined their initials together (Eugène Blum Et Lévy) to form the brand name Ebel in 1911. Based in La Chaux de Fonds, the company was taken over by their son, Charles, in 1932, when he began to concentrate on the business branching out overseas before Blum’s grandson Pierre Alain took over. It was at this point, in 1932, that Ebel began creating wristwatches for Cartier. Later, Ebel became part of the LVMH Group and then Movado Group by the end of 2003.
