The Watch

Here we have a 2000s Dunhill Cityscape Automatic 8006 with a 34mm stainless steel case that curves over your wrist with tapered lugs, the Cityscape collection was the brainchild of Tom Bolt, who was their lead designer at that time. A lug-to-lug length of 40mm and a case thickness of 10mm ensures a comfortable fit. On the right side is a coin-edged crown, a slim smooth bezel that holds a domed sapphire crystal above a crisp matte white textured dial. An outer minute track is precisely executed surrounding raised mirror polished 12, 3 and 9 and arrow indexes marking the hours; as you rotate your wrist, the indexes play with the light, and at 6 o’clock, a colour-matched framed date window. Slender hands are complemented by a tapered sweeping second hand. At 12 o’clock, we have the Dunhill motif, and at 6 o’clock, “Automatic” completes this dynamic dress watch. On the reverse, an exhibition case back with the details of the watch engraved around its edge, inside an automatic ETA Cal. 2892, 21 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, this high-grade movement has a quick set date, hacking seconds and hand winding for your convenience. The watch comes paired with its original 18mm Dunhill leather strap and signed clasp, as well as an additional 18mm leather strap.

Personal Note

Dunhill is another powerhouse of design and craftsmanship that I believe will have its day again with watches, collectors certainly are paying attention to some of their older models and realising the beauty of them and their undeniable value, just like this Dunhill Cityscape we have here. Powered by an automatic ETA 2892 and features a simple, yet elegant white dial and is perfectly proportioned at 34mm. I would not hesitate to snap this one up and add it to your collection whilst you can!
