Points of Mention

This watch is sold “Watch Only” and, therefore, comes without its Bell & Ross box or paperwork. It is paired with a well-suited 20mm leather strap and pin buckle. The watch is from the Circa 2000s and is sold in worn condition, but it is in very fair condition, as you can see from the photos. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

Here we have a discontinued 2000s Bell & Ross Automatic Egg-Shell Dial BR-123S with a brushed 38mm stainless steel case that curves over your wrist with a lug-to-lug length of 45mm and a case thickness of 11mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. Down the right side, we have a large signed crown. The smooth bezel holds a domed sapphire crystal AR coated above a matte egg-shell dial, large black Arabic 12, 3 and 9 marking the hours with triangle markers coated in aged sand-coloured SuperLumiNova, and at 6 o’clock, a recessed sub-seconds and just underneath a round date window. The broad sword hands are coated with SuperLumiNova. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with the watch details engraved and an aperture showing the movements beating heart, inside an automatic ETA Cal. 2895-1, 30 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, the movement has a base of the ETA 2892-A2. It comes paired with a well-suited 20mm leather strap and pin buckle.

Personal Note

Bell & Ross are most known for their square-cased creations, but I personally find their older round cases, like this BR-123S, to be some of the best and most wearable. Coming in at 38mm and featuring a wonderful egg-shell dial with bold numerals, this watch packs a punch on the wrist and will go under the radar to most who see it apart from the collectors who you'd want to have a chat with. If you are interested, add this wonderful watch to your collection today!

The Brand

Bell & Ross was founded in 1992 as a project at the university between two close friends, Bruno Belamich (Bell) and Carlos A. Rosillo (Ross). As a French watch company based in Paris, they have their manufacturing in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The company's watches were originally produced by the German company Sinn, but this partnership ended in 2002, soon after Chanel became a minority shareholder, and production was quickly moved to Switzerland. In 1992, Bell & Ross started producing pilot watches for the French Air Force. They became the official watch supplier to the Escadron de Chasse La Fayette and the French space program. In 2016, Bell & Ross began collaborating with French automaker Renault to create watches that are inspired by their  Formula 1 racing cars. The Bell & Ross Space 1 was the first automatic chronometer to be worn in space in 1994. The Bell & Ross Hydromax 11 100 M was the Guinness World Record holder for wristwatch water resistance at 11,000 metres in 1998.
