Here we have a 1999 Ulysse Nardin San Marco GMT Automatic 213-22, its high polished 40mm round stainless steel case gently curves over your wrist, the stepped lugs with a lug-to-lug length of 47mm and a thickness of 12mm ensure a comfortable fit. On the left side at 8 o’clock you find a pusher to change the GMT hour window on the dial at 11 o’clock. On the right side, a GMT pusher at 2 o’clock next to a protected screw-down signed crown with crown guards. A polished bezel holds a flat sapphire crystal, its matte black dial has an outer minute track and Arabic numeral indexes. At 3 o’clock a date window, and the watch features slim sword hands. Text is painted and the Anchor is applied, and at 11 o’clock the GMT Hour window. On the reverse, an embossed San Marco (Lion of St. Mark, the Evangelist) is in the centre of the screw-down case back, inside an automatic ETA 2892-A2, 21 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour, this is the advanced version of the Cal. 2892, it has an "eccentric screw" for precise fine adjustment. The watch comes paired with its Ulysse 20mm stainless steel bracelet with a butterfly-signed clasp.
This Ulysse Nardin has shocked me and many of those who have seen it! Unfortunately, Ulysse Nardin is responsible for some not-so-great watches in recent years, but they are a brand with a serious heritage and history and the capabilities to make incredible watches on par with the very best out there, this is a testament to that. I personally adore this Ulysse Nardin and would happily add one to my personal collection one day, so snap it up whilst its available!
Ulysse Nardin was founded in 1846 in Le Locle, Switzerland, by Ulysse Nardin. They moved to their rue Jardin premises in 1865 where they still manufacture watches today. Designing the world's first-ever marine chronometer. Winning many awards in deck watches, chronometers and wristwatches. In 1983 the company was taken over by Rolf W. Schnyder. After his death, the company in 2014 joined the Kering’s Group.
